if you get someone in to check that its not still moveing and they say that it isnt then you can do what roy suggested but mabey take it back a bit further than 300mm, rake out mortar between bricks and fit heli bars then replace motar that you raked out, then you fill crack with a 2 part resin...

    Square shaped crack in ceiling

there some nice neat cracks i dnt think ive ever seen them that straight before im thinking it is plasterboard, the cornice you have could be original but the ceilin needed replaceing in the past so they could have cut a nice straight line round the perimiter to keep the cornice in situe then...

So annoying when you can see joins after painting ....

sounds like either not enough skim being applied orrr the boards were taperd edge boards and if you dnt fill out these joints prior to skimming the setting can shrink back into the tapers and show up the joints, how long did you wait before painting??

Pva new plaster before painting - or not!

never pva before paintin the pva is water soluable and will emulsify (cnt spell it) causing the paint so slip and slide all over the place as a result the paint wnt bond properly to the plaster and the finish will be uneven and look terrible. so many people have been told pva is the way to...

Too Late? Painted on new plaster and not watered down!!!

itll proberly peel off or flake off whichever you like the idea of the watered down coat is to seal the new plaster so that the paint can adhere properly

Cracks appearing in ceiling and hallway wall

this is thinking way way outside the box but have you had and sufficiant sized trees cut down from around the house??
  19. J

    What the?!?

that could work mac the problem is pva is water soluable so even if you have put sand into it as soon as you apply your plaster it will liven right up and then it willl still struggle to stick to a gloss paint. im guessing the link was to a bonding agent which has to be left to dry before its...
