    The pipes that feed the rad....one will get hot before the other this is the flow.the rad will heat up. The other is the return if it is closed then the hot water will cool in the rad make sure it is open. You may need to remove the plastic cap and use a spanner or pliers to do this.

    Old Lead pipe connection to new plastic??

    Get rid of the lead and connect to the soil pipe using a strap on boss this is fixed to the large pipe with a clip and solvent cement after a hole is drilled in it. screw fix catolgue no is 11852 PUSHFIT WASTE STRAP ON BOSS.

    Go for a Worcester or Baxi, Jaguar by Plumb centre is another good one.. Avoid, Ideal... Ravenheat, and Saunier.. Good hunting.

    A decent combi for instance a Baxi or Jaguar should last 15 -20 years they are a cost effective heating system as they only heat water when required the down side to combis is the flow rate of domestic hot water you should look for a one that heats 10+ litres per minute.
