Why can't my new Bosch (2.35kW) oven plug into ring main?

It's quite clearly stated in the 'Technical specs' for the HBN331E0B on the Bosch website that the current is 16A, so a 13A plug or 13A FCU would be out of the question: http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/HBN331E0B.html

    testing earth fault loop impedance

Cry, I reckon. Apart from the ropey spelling, grammar & punctuation, and the resurrecting of a 5 year old thread, it doesn't look like 'electriciandiy.co.uk' even exists! A great effort for a first post.

PAT testing equipment. What brand and how much?

I think it's worth mentioning that handheld, battery-powered testers will only perform tests such as earth bond continuity and insulation resistance powered only from the batteries. If you require to do 'mains powered' tests such as protective conductor/touch current measurements, the tester...

    pat testing computers

Eric, just a thought, but it might be an idea for you to stop looking at BS7671 when dealing with PAT questions. It doesn't cover in-service inspection & testing, and just leads to you giving out innacurate information. It's the IEE Code of Practice you should be using, not the 17th.

All well and good, but the OP made no mention of the Class II fitting being a wall light. So where have you got that from?

    Might have! It's actually defined as 9.80665 ms^-2: http://physics.nist.gov/cgi-bin/cuu/Value?gn|search_for=gravity

    Kilo

Because the calorie is not an SI unit, but the joule is. Why on earth would anyone expect them to be x10 multiples of each other? Well, 1 kg doesn't equal 9.8 N, does it? The kilogram is a measure of mass (m), the newton a measure of force (F). They are linked by acceleration (a). In the...

PAT Testing figure 8 mains lead

You need to learn/remember the difference between a Class I and a Class II IR test, both of which will be offered by any PAT instrument. But as you mentioned in post #2, the only things you can do with an IEC C7 lead ('figure of 8') is a full visual, then a functional test. IR and...

    What's this bolt called?

That link is bang on, but it's not a torx as ColJack says. It's exactly what the Wikipedia link says it is, a Polydrive. They are all diagrams of the screw head, not the driver head.
