If you do solder, use lead free solder i find it compliments the chrome pipework better than using the leaded solder. lead solder goes grey and looks awful.

Most modern TRV's are bi-directional, so it doesn't matter whether fitted to flow or return. Manufacturers normally recommend they be fitted to the return side, but as these valves are not very accurate, i wouldn't worry to much.

it is possible that if it is a tiny leak then a dose of leak sealer may fix it.. Wouldnt recomend leak sealer in a sealed system. Has been known to block up the AAV. Best to do a T&R. Sorry Elite
