flue gas analysis / performance testing

No-one has ever told me where the draught diverter (or converter?) on a Back Boiler is.

    British Gas

Only enquired as I had an unsolicited letter from BG arrive recently, asking if I wanted to work for them as a subby. It included a leaflet thing too. When I looked into it, the position was really just a tarted up PAYE job, hardly any better money than a PAYE job either!

ideal W2000 combi boiler is it poorly?

The red box hasn't got TNT written on it has it? If so evacuate house and call bomb squad...only kidding. The red box could be a pump maybe? Still sounds like an airlock to me, or possibly pump not working at all (impellor?) When you say it 'all worked fine' when he / she was there...

Sorry guys is this post regarding a permanenet (ie PAYE type) job, or non-permanent eg subcontracted position?

flue gas analysis / performance testing

Yes, what I meant was that this outfit want us to give them the FGA readings after a strip & service for all BBU's. They said to me that they didn't mind us NOT stripping & servicing OF floorstanding & wall mounted boilers as long as the ratio on the FGA printout was under 0.004. Its very...

flue gas analysis / performance testing

Cheers guys, I don't think that I'm going to have time to make up inspection plates etc for this job, they just want us to go in, take the reading and be out in 30-45 minutes. I'm definitely not drilling anything either! Think I will just experiment with the back boilers, see which...

flue gas analysis / performance testing

Same should go for any other open flued boiler then? If this is the case then taking it AFTER the draught diverter is wrong? Can't see where else I can take it though, eg on floorstanding boiler. I thought I read something in this new-ish CORGI publication about CO/CO2 ratio being the same...

    valliant boiler fault 28

Also remember guys that these are very sensitive to governor problems. I've had a few go to F28 on lighting up when the governors are a bit sticky or slow to respond...

ideal W2000 combi boiler is it poorly?

Yes thought the W2000 was a system boiler rather than combi. It sounds like your plumber / heating engineer / whoever has not fully filled the system with water after their visit. If this is the case, the boiler may be getting too hot. Get them back in and they should be able to sort it quickly.

ideal W2000 combi boiler is it poorly?

Maybe no water in system? Sounds like it overheating?? Are you sure its a combi?

flue gas analysis / performance testing

Going to do some work over the summer for a social housing contractor who want all their guys to do FG analyses for all boilers they come across, including open flued, BBU's, etc. Theres a CORGI publication which has a table stating maximum permissable CO/CO2 ratios, and so they will ask us...

flue gas analysis / performance testing

One for the Corgi service engineers out there: Where is the best / correct test point for combustion analysis (CO/CO2 ratio) on open flued & back boilers. Have never had to do this before myself and the Corgi publication that deals with Fga's doesn't cover this. Used my FgA on only room...

    Strange Heating Droning Noise

The only real bi-directional TRV's are the Danfoss ones with the rotating shaft head. I've heard water-hammer from others which claim to be bi-directional, including the current Honeywell & Siemens ones.

    Balanced flue up a chimney

As the man said, Vokera (and Halstead) have made up a flexible flue systems that are designed to allow existing chimneys to be used. Vokera's is a 2-pipe system while Halstead's is somehow concentric. wonder if anyone has attempted to stick a combi in a living room chimney breast using one...

Ideal Icos dripping inside on electrics

Disagreed about Ideal boilers. I've seen some very well installed ones with many and varied problems, including jammed pumps straight out of the box, leaks from virtually everywhere, inaccessible parts (AAV, PRV!!!) etc etc. If a customer wants a cheap boiler, go with almost any Italian one...

Potterton Kingfisher - overheating really badly - help

Fairly certain its the paste from what you've said. Make sure that the overheat stat is stood off of the pipe as per Pott instructions due to your gravity hot water circuit.

Is this a fair price for a new boiler?

I'd have done this for Between £2300 and £2500 depending on what access to pipes in the kitchen is like, how easy it is to run a suitably sized gas main, and how many radiators to powerflush. I'm in N.London though...

    ACS: CCN 1

If its domestic CCN1 none of it should be on LPG, apart from maybe knowing the SG of natural gas compared with LPG or something... Godd luck by the way, as you are a regular contributor to this board I'm sure you will be fine!!

    Gloworm 30 hxi boiler noise

did the service engineer remove & clean the condensate siphon during servicing as they are supposed to ? They get blocked very easily on this model. If not the boiler itself can make a loud noise when lit due to combustion chamber having water inside...
