Thanks for both of your replies. Basically I know how to use a multimeter. I have used one in the past (my £10 one from B & Q) to test on fault motorised valve's, cylinder thermostats and a fault thermistor (no resistance, just infinity). I just wondered what the type K thermocouple...

Can anyone please tell me what a type K thermocouple wire with plug is for a multimeter? Is it a connection that tests the working of a thermocouple? Or can it be used to test the resistance of wet pocket thermistors/certain thermistors? Thanks for any help.

I get that, I was just wondering what you would look for to suspect a faulty PCB in general. As sometimes it may not be the board at fault and I have known them to be changed unnecessarily. WHat are the signs to look for etc?

I agree, I mean I am not against immigration 100% but people are taking the mick and we need to be tougher. On asylum why are other EU nations taking the pish and getting away with it??

maybe it;s the gas valve making the cligking sound. If the pump was failing then you;d get obvious signs like overheating/boiler lockout rads not so hot etc - check the resistance of pump
