    Cold Bath Tap

Probably. If you have the flexi's valve open and direct the other end of it into a bucket while you're attaching it, should be OK. Note that flexis will restrict the flow from gravity-fed supplies, so you might want to think again!

    Dishwasher just won't work

Very odd. Any signs of life at all when it didn't let water in, e.g. lights coming on? Obviously, the water valve won't open if there's no power. Could possibly be something silly like door not closed fully? One other possibility... a lot of machines have a leak detection system with a...

    Copper to Plastic converter

A simple pipe bender is a good investment, and will mean that with with a bit of practice, your work will stand a chance of looking a lot more "professional". Get the best you can afford. I once had a tiny £25 Draper one which worked, but only just. Buying a slightly posher one from BES was a...

    Crosswater Egon Shower Column installation

Your experience with that company is terrible. What an amateurish bunch. I hope people searching the net find your thread and avoid their products like the plague. No spares at all for an expensive product that is still on sale is beyond belief. I was under the impression that manufacturers...

Bath tap leaking when turning on

Sometimes it's hard to get O-rings exactly the right size for "no name" taps. It might be better to replace the whole headgear, i.e. spindle, washer etc. They're available easily enough, e.g. here...

    noisy toilet since new boiler

Go to the bottom of the class  That makes things much harder to diagnose remotely. Does the water supply to the toilet have an isolating valve? If so, what happens if you close this a tiny bit, to reduce the flow rate slightly?

    No heating help !

Has this gas valve got a modulating coil? That could explain the 115 Ω .

Architeckt 1 1/2" Chrome Shower Waste with Removable Gr

At a guess, something like this: http://www.screwfix.com/p/shallow-bath-trap-40mm/13034?_requestid=219522 But I'm not a plumber, so wait until you get more replies.

As Bob says, a hacksaw will glide through lead pipe like a knife through butter.

    Lead pipe/stopcock problem

Thanks, John. That pic was taken last year when I replaced the kitchen. When I did the work on the stop valve, it was buried under a kitchen unit with a sink on top, and was horrendously difficult to get at. I spent hours with just my legs poking out of the cupboard, hands stuck down a...

    Lead pipe/stopcock problem

Access under a sink can be a p.i.t.a. To add to the fun, mine is wedged in a corner and half plastered/tiled over. I refurbed it rather than messing around with the lead. And if things go wrong, you'll be left with no water and will need to call a professional who will no doubt charge you...

Architeckt 1 1/2" Chrome Shower Waste with Removable Gr

First link is to a shower waste. Second is to a combined waste and trap. So you need to buy a trap. Ones for made specially for showers tend to be very shallow as there's often limited clearance.

    noisy toilet since new boiler

Yes, sounds like your loo's float valve was designed for low pressure water, whereas it's now connected straight to the mains. If so, replacing the float valve (or part of it) so that it's suitable for mains pressures should help somewhat.

    Cold Bath Tap

If you can't manage to work out where it's coming from, you could install a full bore isolating valve. Should be easy enough to do even if there's a slight trickle of water, and won't restrict the flow/reduce pressure.

    Baxi Solo 2 (80PF) - any good?

My parents are buying a new house, built early 1990s at a guess. The boiler is a Baxi Solo 2 (80PF) and was last serviced 5 years ago, though it does seem to basically work. When they eventually move in, I will insist that they get an RGI to service it. But in the meantime, what's...

    Lead pipe/stopcock problem

Can you turn off the water before this stopcock too, e.g. on your driveway or on the pavement? Is there plenty of undamaged lead pipe leading up to where it's connected to the stopcock you mention, as opposed to just a tiny bit poking up through the floor? If yes to both, and you're good...

    Crosswater Egon Shower Column installation

You could ask them to post/email/fax you the installation instructions, which hopefully contain an exploded diagram and part numbers. All decent manufacturers would do this FOC.
