    Worth paying extra aluminium radiators?

I value of steel is 50 w/m2 per degree c aluminium is 160. If the rate of heat transfer is not a factor we needn't do heat loss calculations.

    Worth paying extra aluminium radiators?

Aly rads maximise their surface area with fins similar to steel rads. don't have time a working but look up the heat out put of a steel v an aluminium rad. Would be a to know.

    Worth paying extra aluminium radiators?

You could do a heat loss calc for a room as a comparison. Any vessel rad or room made from a material with a higher conductivity rate will pass heat more quickly if the temperature within is greater than the temperature externally. If the rate of transfer is faster it's surface can be smaller...

    Worth paying extra aluminium radiators?

My only experience of ally rads is leaks at the badley corroded valve connections. The rate of heat transfer is faster through ally than steel even with it's thicker profile. This means a smaller rad can do the same job.the flow rate will be the same if sized correctly. If you have limited space...

Any one can do heart surgery. quality heating engineers are harder to find.

Problem balancing cast iron rads after system powerflush

Use a differential thermometer to measure the temp change across the flow and return on each rad. Should be similar to the flow and return temp at the boiler. Usually twenty degrees for a condensing boiler and eleven for non condensing. The rads that don't work could be down to faulty valves...

No CH without HW being on

A new valve is unlikely to be faulty. Look at the Honeywell y plan wiring guide from their Web site. Follow it closely from start to finish.use a new wiring centre if the wires are a mess. A pro should do this job in less than one hour. Approx £90. It's an interesting challenge though.

Should be neutral, live, ch call, hw say, and hw call from programmer. the hw say is often missing.

One Raditator Not Working After Power flush

I can't spell and predictive text is little help.

One Raditator Not Working After Power flush

Flushing can't clean a heating system completely, but the engineer should have tested all the rads before he finished the job. It could be a closed or faulty radiator valve, especially if one of of them is thermostatic. Some times it is required to remove and flush a radiator off the system. If...

    What would you do....

Report for sure. Unregistered installers, are taking the bread from our mouths. Always ask for and check registration details before an engineer undertakes any work for you. 300 for a day is cheap and a registered installer would struggle to do the job for so little. Get the work checked by gas...
