Lots of hot water but no central heating

Have tried that but the pipe work cools and the boiler goes out, move the valve manually back to mid position and the boiler lights instantly and not pipe work again, move the valve back to CH only and nothing!!!

Lots of hot water but no central heating

Update to my issue: Last night I turned off the system and boiler and then closed the valves at both ends of all the rad's. I then went round bleeding them all starting from the bottom of the house. There was air in all of them and I left the bleed nipple open and then opened the flow and...

Lots of hot water but no central heating

Tony, I have uploaded a sketch of my exact wiring (after carefully tracing every wire) to my albums and have the contrast on max so you should be able to view it and there are photos of the wiring to the programmer too. (http://www.diynot.com/network/Wildeman/albums/) Looking at Y-Plan...

Lots of hot water but no central heating

I did think that too Tony but have had two seperate sparks look at it and they say it is wired correct for a Y-Plan system The system used to have a danofss 102e5 programmer which one of the electricians replaced with a Sunvic 207XLS 2 channel programmer to allow hot water and central heating...

Lots of hot water but no central heating

I have this very same issue with my system which has a Glow Worm Ultimate boiler connected to a Wilo Gold Pump and Sunvic 3 Port mid-position valve. I have replaced the actuator and valve body this week and fully drained, run Sentinal X800 through the sysyetm and also flushed fully again from...

    Installing TRV's on 10mm microbore

Fitting the Bulldog 2 TRV's yesterday to 9 rad's and I had a result in that they fitted using the existing nut and olive to both the pipe and rad and not a dropped leaked. The TRV's are working a treat and for the money I can highly recommend them.

10mm Microbore - suspected blockage or airlock on C/H return

I drained the system down fully yesterday to fit TRV's to all but 2 rad's (11 rad's in total and 9 with TRV's) the water and F&E tank were sludgy so I removed the F&E tank and fully cleaned it out and then once I brought the system back up and filled with water and used X800 and ran the system...

10mm Microbore - suspected blockage or airlock on C/H return

Thanks Tony Just been reading an article about Y-Plan systems and the fact that if they do not have a by-pass fitted (which mine doesn't appear to have as there would be a T piece in the pipe work near the pump) then normally one of the rad's acts as a by-pass. It says if this is the case...

10mm Microbore - suspected blockage or airlock on C/H return

Thanks Tony I have 11 rad's - would you double dose the system (2ltrs) or just use one litre and am I right in thinking circulate it for a couple of hours at normal running temperature? Andy

10mm Microbore - suspected blockage or airlock on C/H return

Is X800 not just for powerflush machines or can it be used in the system and circulated via the pump?

    Installing TRV's on 10mm microbore

The next door but one neighbour (who is a relative) has done his with a very gentle junior hackscrew. Was speaking to him last night and he swapped 11 valves without a leak or squashed pipe. Here's hoping!!!! :|

    Installing TRV's on 10mm microbore

Thanks all I have opted for the Bulldog 2 TRV's for the system from Plumb Center which are a 10mm without reducer connection and are the same (Plumb Center own branded) as the Pegler Terrier II TRV's that screwfix sell at £5 more per valve!! I will post once they are all fitted and working...

10mm Microbore - suspected blockage or airlock on C/H return

I have a weird issue with my C/H which has been happening for a while now but I am now in a position to drain the system (fitment of a new 3 port valve body and TRV's on the rad's) that I want to see if I can cure this issue once and for all so I would welcome any opinions: I know that there...

    Installing TRV's on 10mm microbore

Or I take it I swap out the connection into the radiator at the same time to the one that comes with the TRV? (having a blonde moment!!)

    Installing TRV's on 10mm microbore

Thanks is that just 10mm on the inlet and the connection to the radiator is standard so should fit the connection already in place?

    Very Noisy Central Heating

I am looking for some advice on how to cure our very noisy central heating system which is driving myself and the whole of the family up the wall (excuse the pun)!!! The system is a open vented, gravity feed central heating system. It consists of a Glowworm gas fired boiler in the garage...
