    H/W and H/W with C/H together but NO C/H ON IT'S OWN - HELP!

The drop from the water level in the tank to the pump is about 75-80cms

I will give the tank a clean tonight, the tank has a jacket and a lid - albeit a poor fitting one. The scanner is rubbish as my drawing was really dark, the vertical drop pipe from the F&E tank to the pump is the feed to the system from the tank to top it up.

Please find below a Pipe Diagram drawing I had a quick look in the F&E tank this morning to check it had water in it which it did but there was "gunk", looked like slime all over the top of the water!! I will try the glass of water later when I can get another pair of hands

Would a magnet on the pipes in the airing cupboard be a start as presumably it will stick to the iron build up in the copper pipe??

I will try that and see what happens. If the problem still persists what is the best way to try to find a partial blockage - don't want to rip out all the pipework and rads

I have already replaced the valve body and actuator three weeks ago. A pipe diagram will be hard as I stated in previous posts the floor boards are the large ones and I do not fancy cutting them up with a circular saw seeing as the pipes and wires are tight to the underside of them (know this...

7 is connected to Grey from the valve, the cylinder stat as well as HW Off on the Programmer, it is not connected to Neutral Sorry for the light drawing, it must be the scanner!!! I mentioned a lot of air in the system but I am thinking that from the noises it makes, not getting any air...

I am not sure if that would cause the issue but it has been piped like that since the house was built.

doitall/mandate I do not think I have a by-pass pipe, it would be close to the pump/cylinder wouldn't it? I have tried to get to the pipes under the landing to draw a diagram but the floorboards are the large boards that would have to be cut with a circular saw and seeing as the...

I will try that Agile, as the only bleeds I can find are on the rads and then one on the return to the boiler just above the boiler itself (see my pics earlier in the thread) Doitall and Agile does it sound feasible that air is causing no heat when running in HW only mode or I am being too...

I can hear air in the system but cannot seem to remove it and when in CH only mode and I turn up the tank stat and select HW as well on the programmer the valve moves to the HW & CH mid position and then there is a hell of a noise and rush of water followed by pipes too hot to touch!!!

Matt1e/Mandate, The actuator is working fine, have tested with the sparky and the correct wires are live when they should be. The sparky has even shorted out the two stats and the programmer in the terminal box to rule them out as being faulty. The actuator and pump were replaced 12 months...

Thanks Mandate, I thought I was making some progress but now that is vansihing fast!! I had the electrician back on Saturday and he completely re-wired the junction box in the airing cupboard after tracing every wire and testing them for breaks, once that was done he shorted out...

thanks for the advice twgas I will try that with the stats tonight to at least keep heat in the radiators!! Yes in CH only mode, the valve moves to the correct position, the pump runs and there is 240v at the boiler. The boiler is only live when needed (it DOES NOT have a permenant...

Doitall - have turned the Frost Stat right up to 30 and the boiler lights and the pump starts, the valve does not move from the HW only position. I thought I would try removing the Valve head and then if I move the valve body itself to the mid position the pump for the Central Heating gets...

Will try that first doitall and then I will trace every wire (and colour) and then draw a circuit diagram, I will test voltage again at all wires and put that on the diagram. Once this has been done I will upload to the forum so you can see it.
