    MDF Radiator Cover Paint?

Thanks guys, what do I thin the gloss with and would any of you advise to spray the grill gold rather than white? I also noticed that the grill is only held with staples so I could remove this and fit a decorarive metal grill as sold in B&Q or shall I just keep it simple?

    Interior cladding panels

Hi does anyone know a place that sells wooden cladding panels which I can use to cover the side of my staircase? I have 2 doors built into the staircase too for storage and the whole thing is currently covered in wooden tongue and groove panels which look very dated! I've seen some Easipanel...

    Cutting stool legs?

Hi can anyone recommend what kind of saw to use for cutting short some metal bar stools? I bought some from ebay for my breakfast bar but they're a little too high for the worktop so I was thinking of taking off a couple of inches from the base. They're tubular steel roughly 2mm thickness.

    glueing mitres.

Something called Mitre Fast. There are 2 tubes in the pack - a small tube which is like superglue which you apply to one surface, and an aerosol can which you spray to the other surface to activate the glue apparently. And yes it sticks damn fast!!!

    cooker wiring

Personally, I used a 4mm butyl heat-resistant flex from my 5.2kW rated oven to the terminal outlet box. As mentioned it all depends on how much power your cooker uses. I think 2.5mm heat-resistant allows up to 3.8kW, but don't quote me on that.

    Coving problem - help!

I fill any gaps with adhesive/filler and the paint over in white. Once finished you won't see the difference unless you keep staring at it. Obviously you'll know its there but it will take a trained eye for anyone else to see it.

Hi can someone help me wire up a new light switch please? I've posted pics of both the old set-up and the new switch. The current switch is wired up as shown and is a 2 gang switch supplying 2 sets of lights but is not 2-way. The new switch looks alot different to the old one which is what...

Thanks guys I'll give that a try. Are there any other tips to avoid brush marks? I've seen this done before on a wooden beam and the results were aweful - the brush marks dried straight away into the finish!

What finish for a hardwood door?

Hi I've just had a couple of hardwood french doors fitted but debating over what finish to have. The rest of the downstairs internal doors are white but these doors go behind the main porch door, and I didn't want to cover up the hardwood pattern with white gloss. Do I go with Varnish, woodstain...

Matt or Silk Emulsion for a Kitchen/Dining area?

Hi I'm not sure what the benefits are of each of these paints but what is advisable for an open plan kitchen/dining area? Are there any advantages/disadvantages for either type? A mate told me silk or satin is good in kitchens because it wipes down easily, but does it shine too much under...

    Boiler keeps re-starting

Hi, we had the water supply turned off at the mains recently to replace 2 radiators, but now there seems to be a problem with our Vailiant TurboMax combi boiler. Whenever the hot water tap is released the boiler fires up but after a short while you can hear it switch off momentarily before...
