Having a Vaillant 837 fitted - Is this Certificated?

Hello, We are just about to commit to having the above boiler fitted but before doing so I believe there is an installation certificate needed for our warranty - am I correct before I go and ask the installer this question? Thanks, Mike.

NEED NEW WATER MAIN - LOW WATER PRESSURE

Afternoon All, We are looking into having our Vulcan boiler replaced (as per my old post). We've had a few heating engineers round and they have said it's not possible to fit a combi due to low water pressure from the mains. I phoned Thames Water today to enquire about having this sorted...

HOW DO YOU TELL IF DAMP IS OLD OR NEW?

Thanks for the reply, I didn't think of that. Obviously if there was water running down the walls I would assume it was a current and ongoing damp problem. As there isn't and the house has been empty for so long it isn't quite as easy to tell!! Is there such a thing as a damp metre...

HOW DO YOU TELL IF DAMP IS OLD OR NEW?

Hello, We recently moved and after stripping the study I've found that in the corners of the two exterior walls the plaster has blown and there is a lot of mould/staining. The house had a new roof a year or so ago, as the damp is high up on both walls I think it may have been caused before...

HELP - VERY VERY OLD VULCAN BOILER!!!

Evening All, Haven't replied lately as we don't have tinterweb at home yet. We now have hot water!!! It was an air lock that is now sorted. The only problem we have now is that it is still the original timer on the boiler, this is so old and corroded that the dial crumbles if you even look...

HELP - VERY VERY OLD VULCAN BOILER!!!

Hi, We moved into our new house yesterday, all went/is well apart from the boiler. I have managed to light it and get heat to the rads but cannot work out how to get the hot water running. There is a cylinder tank with what looks like newly replaced pipes to it so I guess it was running...

FENSA for french doors, skylight replacement and new panes

Apologies Richard, I meant B regs not planning, they agree that planning permission is not required, neither is conservation area planning as it's the back door and a like for like replacement. Well, our buyers surveyor didn't question the doors at all, nor did ours when we bought in 2003...

FENSA for french doors, skylight replacement and new panes

Got an answer from the council....... Basically, regardless of the conservation area or single dwelling we would need planning permission if the frame was changed. If it's just the doors it is classed as maintenance and permission is not required. How would they know if you changed the frame...

FENSA for french doors, skylight replacement and new panes

May be able to get out of this one. I've read on line that the new regulations are not applicable to properties in conservation areas - also that it's not applicable to single dwellings such as flats, not sure why but that's what I've read, and we happen to live in a flat!!! I have e-mailed our...

FENSA for french doors, skylight replacement and new panes

Cheers Richard, I have e-mailed our local planning office and also FENSA for more advice. I know that ignorance is no defence but how on earth are you supposed to be aware of the fact that you now require permission to replace your front/back door. I have never heard of FENSA before now and am...

FENSA for french doors, skylight replacement and new panes

We can't have double glazing though as it's a conservation area, isn't this just classed as maintanence?? Cheers.

FENSA for french doors, skylight replacement and new panes

Hello, Got a very similar issue so hope you don't mind me jumping in on this post. We're in the process of selling our converted Victorian flat in Lewisham. We live in a conservation area and I replaced our back door for French Windows in the existing frame back in 2004 using toughend single...
