    Is the boiler isolator (fused spur outlet) on its own circuit? or just 'spurred' off an adjacent 13A socket? if yes to the first, check consumer unit. As Agile says, Electrickery can be dangerous without skills and equipment for safe testing.

    Absolutely, every time (bar once - see below). yes. Clear enuff? If you have ever cracked a basin trying your hardest to get a metal backnut to hold the tap, suspect cheap imported basin with an high-spot, tight you'll know, just know why. Oh, and why oh why are new/replacement tap threads...

    I just hope that the PTFE tape on the threaded end is Gas Rated and not just regular 'Plumbers Tape for Everything'. Generally it has an Yellow tint to easily identify it. Patrick

    Jon, the only analogy I can come up with in a similar situation to yours (and mine!), is the restaurant/hotel trade, where they have to hope that the punters don't do a runner after a meal with a couple bottles opened and enjoyed, or steal the bedding and tea maker....
