Toilet water leaking into bowl after flushing

a Fluidmaster type is identical, and as the top part twists away from the base section, the new part reconnects by going in the opposite direction. (try it with the new one first, then all will become crystal - I promise.)

which toilet to buy and or avoid?

avoid buying online.... esp anything starting v**t***a Use a proper plumbers merchant, or better yet get a CIPHE registered plumber to help you choose, and let him/her take responsibility for supplying and fitting it properly. Sheez, my experiences of customer supplied bathroom fittings...

c £500, (is that a pony? or a monkey?) my local indie merchant keeps them on the shelf. 22mm compression both ends, larger dia than what we fit under combo's. DH

Why is every Which? Best Buy boiler made by Worcester bosch?

I'll put my two old pennies worth in here... for a lady of germanic descent. I offered two 'German' brands, inc WB. She chose it, not me. I vowed at the end of that job I would not be fitting another. That still stands 4 years on. Now of course there are lots and lots of satisfied...

Best Scale Inhibitor / Water Softener

The 'aquabion' inline one (i.e. does not need half of a kitchen cup'd to itself), may be suitable for you. I know of a Landlord, who, despite the initial cost, and lifespan of say 5-6 years, swears by them and calculates that they are as effective at limescale control and cheaper with zero...

can someone tell me what pipe/flexi pipe for this waste

Whatever you do, do not use this one (from Screwfix for example). Only use McAlpine branded flexi's (if you really must use one at all). The pictured one does not have the internal bore required by a kitchen sink, its about the equivalent of 1 1/4", at best. AVOID. DH

Back solo 2 40 pf problems

I believe you have a failed 'Gas Safety Critical' component, Forum rules do not allow me to elaborate, I can only suggest that you engage a competent Registered Gas Installer to rectify this for you. See Gassaferegister.co.uk for a list of RGI's in your postcode area, if you do not already have...

    working out ventilation

Tibbot is not necessarily wrong. But, As to how format a presentation on the subject? Give your classmates a one word answer. RTFM. its all in the books you are given/have paid for as part of the course fees. Get them to read it for themselves. If you ever have a Gas Safe Inspector...

What's the best Plumbers' tool bag?

Right now Dickie, I have the same VetoPropac tech XL bag, just for Gas Servicing minor repairs as Dean has. Similar range of Gas related equipment too. For 'real' plumbing repairs installs,  the FatMax rucsac for starters, with a FatMax tote box in one hand, dustsheet etc under...

T-ing from a steel gas pipe to copper

As an RGI, not saying it cannot be achieved, but it would involve (at the very least) cutting out the steel section between the two threaded joints at each end and replacing with, say copper pipe into which a 'tee' can be inserted. Without X-ray specs, the length of the affected section is...

    Dartford crossing payment

As I rarely leave East Anglia, perhaps locals could enlighten me as to why any charge has to be made? (ongoing maintenance notwithstanding) as I could only think the capital costs would have been paid manyfold by now? DH
