Hi All Recently my otherwise reliable Potterton Prima F boiler has started to make a buzzing noise. Sometimes but not always, When the boiler switches off (as told to by the room stat) a loud buzzing can be heard thoughout the house and the radiators are vibrating along with the buzz. It...

    Call this paint...........!

Rant time. Just spent the best part of a morning trying to paint 6 feet of skirting board and one door frame with B&Q's own brand undercoat. My advice is never buy this paint. It spreads like jelly, is very difficult to cut in and it dries in seconds so if you don't get it right first time...

Yes sorry I mean tile adhesive (wall tiles). I havent bought a proper tool yet and only used the end of a screwdriver so I'm assuming that the correct tool should shift it.

    How to remove grout?

Hi Chaps Previous to my earlier thread about tiling over tiles, I have decided to keep the original tiles for the time being as they are a neutral colour (white) and should be in keeping with the new colour scheme. I have decided to smarten them up a bit by removing the old discoloured...

    Plumbing a new vanity unit

Joe, I've had 30 years or so "experience" too. At first I was strong and when we'd known each other for a week or so I gave in and decided to let the little lady think she was in control. I've been letting her think that ever since  Great. P.S. negative on the spare room, sorry, only...

    Plumbing a new vanity unit

Joe, it's a sad fact of life that us fella's have very little influence on the choice of any furnishings in our houses. We just have to make them fit and look nice in the time it takes to wash and iron a single load of laundry, or else :( And yes a plinth would be much easier, but like I...

    Plumbing a new vanity unit

Unfortunatly the pipes will be easilly seen whilst walking up the stairs. I do know that the joists run parallel to the wall as I've lifted some tongue and grove chipboard flooring in this area previously. However I'm not sure if any joists are directly under the studded wall, I will find...

    Plumbing a new vanity unit

Hi all Just bought a new vanity unit for the bathroom with a recessed bowl to replace a standard pedestal basin. It stands about 6 inches off the floor on decorative legs so all the pipes and waste from the old unit which ran up through the floor and behind the pedestal can be seen. Two...

    Tile over existing tiles?

Thanks for that chaps. The tiles are well stuck so that shouldn't be an issue. I'll let you know how it's gone when I make up my mind what to do.

    Tile over existing tiles?

Hello all I'm about to embark on a project of refurbishing my bathroom. Of course the other half wants new tiles fitting around the bath and like many a little lady, she obviously thinks that they just magically appear on the wall! My problem is that being a reletively new house the...

    Softener dispensing

Could someone help me answer this question? I have a Hotpoint aquarius washing machine about 3 years old which works fine. During the rinse cycle the softener gets dispensed quite early on. I thought that the softener should be dispensed on the very last rinse just before the final spin. Is this...
