Query, 13mm² cable required for inverter to cu for solar install.

It's a pain that now I'll have to double check their work and interrogate as to what breaker they're going to use, is it bi directional etc. I'm told that many still aren't using these which seem important for pv, battery. I've garnered from electrician videos on YouTube that this is often an...

Query, 13mm² cable required for inverter to cu for solar install.

One thing I've confirmed with fox UK support is that the breaker should be at least 40a.

Probably best not to name our installer. Give them time to rectify. They are reputable.

Query, 13mm² cable required for inverter to cu for solar install.

I should add resetting the breaker has not brought the system back up. Its still gives a grid lost fault. Would this be due to damage to the breaker after it tripped?

Query, 13mm² cable required for inverter to cu for solar install.

Don't quote me on what I think cables do or go exactly where, unsure of that but here's a photo of the cables. Both dc coming from pv and to cu. This what you would expect?

Yeah, found some on my phone. Second was yesterday for evidence of trip.

Query, 13mm² cable required for inverter to cu for solar install.

Thanks, so this uk version says the breaker should be 80a for our install with battery. Still a lot bigger than the 32a that was used. On a foxess forum a couple of people reckoned a 40a would do.

Query, 13mm² cable required for inverter to cu for solar install.

It's the k series 7kw, not using eps but we charge a battery overnight, ep11 bat.

Query, 13mm² cable required for inverter to cu for solar install.

Yeah, I've contacted their UK support who may have a different view on what's required.

    It's a fox ess k series 7kw inverter, like most it's chinese.

Query, 13mm² cable required for inverter to cu for solar install.

This is from inverter manual. We have the 7kw inverter, 8kw of pv and 10kwh battery

Here's the inverter manual. We have a battery to charge also.

Query, 13mm² cable required for inverter to cu for solar install.

We just had our solar and battery install trip on the cu. It was a 32a breaker. Having looked at the manual for our inverter it actually states this should be 100a breakrr and the cabling should 13mm². I can't seem to find this size wire when I look on uk sites. Is it non standard in the UK...

    Soil vent height above roof

I had a plumber tell me a vent flat with the roof tiles could allow gases into the roof space so not suitable. Think he said vents should possibly go up at ridge and our location was too low?

    Soil vent height above roof

I'm aware that a soil vent has to be at least 900mm above a window within 3m but is there a minimum the pipe has to be above the roof tiles? I'd like to cut one of ours lower so it doesn't shade solar panels so much.

    Solar panels on warm roof

Not fixed to roof.. Concrete slabs placed on rails act as ballast. The load can be less as they're angled at about 10 degrees,(tubs are steeper), and a number of panels linked together.

    Solar panels on warm roof

When we had the roof built I mentioned to structural engineer that I may want to put solar panels on it in future, pretty sure he factored it in, but It was the builder who didn't put ply on top of insulation which was actually mentioned in original specs. (Though I know this isn't a...

    Solar panels on warm roof

That was my thought however from looking around install on YouTube etc these pads seem pretty standard. Esdec systems have a circular plastic disc as a pad, both seem to have quite a small area to transfer load.

    Solar panels on warm roof

Not quite sure what you mean by concrete strip? The racking systems seem to have a small rubber type pad about 15cm x10 cm that takes the weight of panels, racks and ballast.

    Solar panels on warm roof

We recently had a new warm flat roof constructed. 3 layer felt was laid on top of the insulation/vapor barrier/osb which gives a hard surface but I guess not as hard for taking loads as another layer of ply on top would do. Could this construction take the load of solar panel racking + ballast...
