    Vaillant Turbomax 828e

Replaced a diverter valve yesterday on a Vaillant 828e. Everything went well. Filled up tested no probs. Got a call this morning from customer saying no hot water? Recalled found actuator had dis engaged from valve spindle. From what I can see the actuator moves the spindle to whatever mode is...

HELP. no heating or hot water. Ideal combi response

Look for your filling loop. Usually 2 valves with a flexible chrome connector. Connect the flexible tube to both valves and turn them on. Fill boiler to 1 bar close taps, remove loop- boiler should now work.

    PCB blown

Check this- You will probably have condense leaking from the ignition probe gasket. You will see white staining. The condense will run down the wiring loom and through the plastic connector into the pcb! Look at the pcb and you will see staining, lift the pcb out and you will see white...

    Boiler won't light (Ideal Icos)

I would say 99% sure it is pcb related. On the reverse of the pcb should be a number and 2 letters. i.e. 6bc,6dc or 6ec. If it one of these then pcb has failed ignition transformer inside and will need a complete pcb. Email me and I can send you one at a discount of course.

    Plumbing Career

Don't forget the good feeling when you have worked hard, done a good job and everything is spot on and the customer doesn't pay. I have had 2 this week alone. 1 guy owns 42 launderettes and we did his heating system but he denies receiving our invoices? Anyone wanna swap? work all week and...

    Potterton puma 80

Sounds like your water pressure switch is blocked. Hence no pressure to switch=low pressure light on! Small white circular device with 2 wires (yellow I think) attached. Remove outer case, remove screw in pcb housing, pull forward, drain boiler, unscrew switch from pipe. CAREFULLY clear...

    No hot water

Response 80 has a flowswitch located in the cold water inlet pipe just above the isolator. May have some debris in it which is not allowing the paddle to move. Turn mains water off, unscrew flowswitch ( black plastic device) and check for debris in the pipe/switch). Could be scale or...

    Big Bangs

At a guess I would say that your rad's have thermostatic valves fitted and the one you have removed was used as the uncontrolled(without a trv). When they shut down the uncontrolled rad would allow a circuit for the water to flow. If this is the case remove a valve head(usually unscrew) and...

    Combi - No heating.

Oilman- I can only assume you have been breathing too many oil fumes lately? The original question was not a water leak, the boiler was not providing heating. As for Corgi reqd. to work on the gas boiler you must have this registration. Our £60.00 charge is not hefty at all. As we only work...

Potterton Prima 50 keeps cutting out

I presume your plumber has carried out basic tests on the boiler? Inlet gas pressure/burner pressure Polarity checks on mains in Tested power to the gas valve, fan, pcb etc I suspect not. Might be an idea to get a boiler/heating engineer to have a look instead of a plumber?

    pilot won't light!

Madders are you saying there is no spark? i.e. pilot not even lighting? if so your spark generator or lead is faulty. Pen sounds like a detection fault, did the washing machine man do anything to the incoming mains( electrics) sounds like crossed polarity? 240vac on neutral to earth...

Desperate! Combi Boiler- Heating fine- No hot water

We really need more info, not all boilers work the same way and therefore quite difficult to fault diagnose without knowing what boiler. Look around the boiler for a databadge or a manufacturer plate.

Pressure valve AND automatic air vent leaking water

Sounds like the 2 faults are related, water eveident on the expansion vessel valve normally means it has perished(new expansion vessel reqd), the safety valve may have debris stuck in it especially if you used it to drain the boiler.
