    Automatic cars.

Have you tried one? It's terrible. In most versions the paddle arm is fixed in place which means if you do have both hands on the wheel and are turning and need to change up/down it's quite hard and can really distract you. I tried the BMW 530 with sequential and nearly walled it. My 320...

    Automatic cars.

Not really Joe, unless you have a good amount of cash to spend. The German manufacturers are the only ones (to my mind) that build decent AT boxes. Double clutch and DSG are the way ahead for sure (not a huge decrease in economy and fair levels of control). Tiptronic, which seems to be a...

    Open a shop

Not a profit making idea, I understand, but I would love to open a record shop. Not a "Music Shop" like HMV and the like have turned in to but a proper wee shop that stocks vinyl. Lots and lots of vinyl where people can come in and have a chat about it... Ah that's my lottery dream :D

Is it time to ban cigarettes/tobacco?

I'm not so sure about that. Drugs aren't always about feeling good about yourself. Sometimes it's purely for pleasure and other for a bit of escapism. I have taken all manner of "illegals" (with the exception of the so-called "hard drugs" Heroin, Crack etc) and neither have had a traumatic...

    Murdoch's Empire under attack.

Murdoch will just end up withdrawing all Newscorp activity from the UK. I think all Newscorp business (excluding Sky) is about 5% of the overall empire - so won't really be an issue in their bigger picture. The impact to the UK economy, employment etc may well be felt though.

    Copper coins

Joe, good idea, to take it one step further though, is physical money dying out all together? Do many people actually carry cash much these days? I know I find it easier just to pay by card these days.

    Barcelona

Spacecat, honestly - how many times throughout a season do teams like Chelski, Man Yoo, The Milan twins and the Spanish big two get dodgy decisions in their favour? It's not restricted to Barca and how many games would be won and lost, how many titles won and lost if the dodgy decisions hadn't...

    engine over heated

Mursal is right, if you are going to go down this route then always on with the ignition is best as you would need to judge when it should come on. If you don't get it right or worse, you forget, then it could be catastrophic for the engine. Get a sensor asap as it's there for a reason.

    engine over heated

If the sensor is duffed then it won't be telling the fan that it's needing to come on - hence it doesn't and is in-fact stopping the fan from working. IIRC the sensor should be easy enough to replace, but you may find it a costly exercise.

Golf - a wonderful game or a waste of a walk?

Another thing I forgot to mention about Muckhart GC is that we are actively involved with wildlife preservation and many areas of the course (out of bounds) is sectioned off by the Scottish Wildlife Science research group. There is a huge marsh/wetland area that's been developed between the...

Golf - a wonderful game or a waste of a walk?

ABC, Yetts. Well 15 mins south in Saline. Yep there is a big playground up here, and I utilise it. Walking in Dunning glen and up Hunter's Ridge. But golf allows me to combine walking in the beautiful hills with something that requires my mind to be functioning. You say it's the same holes...

    Any magicians on here?

I know, terrible name, but... you know... he's Dutch. His tricks are cool though and on most I was left wondering how the f***... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DpYqYq-DOw Probably not the best ones but an example of his naff 80's showmanship vs the speed of his tricks.

    Greasing Road wheel bolts.

Dunno about the equipment that 90% of garages use but the air wrench I have in my garage has an adjustable torque setting that once it whizzes the bolts on to that torque the collet goes loose and doesn't apply any more pressure. So if garages are using similar then torque settings are being used.

    Any magicians on here?

Sorry to revive an old(ish) thread but has anyone seen a guy called Hans Klok? He's as camp as hell (in a Vegas show kinda way) but my word his tricks are good. He's very, very fast. And you gotta love his 80's style bouffant hair-do.

Also IMAM, you have to acknowledge that there isn't the same appetite these days to save ailing companies. If you pick a company because it's in trouble then there is probably a reason that it's in trouble. And, add it that you will generally only hear about "investable" companies (i.e. big...
