    I love cooking

I find it a really good book. Easy to follow, I don't consider myself a novice at cooking but some Asian stuff can be quite complex. The recipe for naan is the best I've used and always comes out that proper light and fluffy way with just a hint of chewiness

    I love cooking

Absolutely 100% with you there Alarm. I love the smell that blasts right out at you when you open the spice cupboard. The smell of cinnamon is my favourite, closely followed by star anise.

    I love cooking

For Indian cuisine, I use this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hamlyn-All-Colour-Indian-Cookbook/dp/0600574555/ref=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1328610539&sr=1-6 Full of really easy to follow recipes and they all have turned out great when I have made them. I agree that you do need to buy an...

    I love cooking

Reminds me of that old joke; two men in the jungle and they are facing up to a cheetah, one of the men starts putting his Nike running shoes on. The other says "You don't think you can out run it do you?" and the first one replies "No, but I only need to out run you!"

I may regret asking this, but never heard of this - what is it?

    Boxing...

There are no evidence in viewing figures to suggest that UFC has a mainstream following that would cause that kind of impact to boxing viewing figures. Highest recorded UFC broadcast figures are a shade over 1m at it's peak in 2009, since then highest recorded by ESPN (and formerly Setanta)...

    Boxing...

Sky is responsible for a huge decline in boxing, especially in this country. Huge purses being offered to relatively good fighters with massive, 3 or 4 month build ups, that rarely deliver. Comparison for consideration, Lewis Vs Holyfield 1999, Pay Per View buys for Sky 3.7 million (65% of...

No heating or hot water but boiler very hot

Problem solved it was a double fault. The system pressure gauge was faulty, showing 2.3 bar when, in fact it was 0.1 bar. The system being so low caused the pump to fault. New pump and a new gauge and heat and hot water again. Thanks to all for the advice in narrowing this down.

No heating or hot water but boiler very hot

Thanks Hugh, no whirring noise at all. Also been out looking at it and due to it's location I can't see how to remove anything (no screws or bolts are visible). Are these expensive to replace?

No heating or hot water but boiler very hot

Update: There is a lever but it doesn't appear to be doing anything. I have moved it back and forth, it seems to move very freely and I assume that this maybe should not be the case.

No heating or hot water but boiler very hot

Here is a picture of the box thing on the pipe. It's really awkward to get in to so the image is 90 degrees out, black cable is going in to the top.

No heating or hot water but boiler very hot

There is one pipe in and one out of it by the looks of it. Just a black electrical cable going in to the top of it. The boiler house is an absolute mess of pipes going everywhere even the engineer that came to service it in August was perplexed by it. There appears to be no lever in it at...

No heating or hot water but boiler very hot

Fair point, ok the shaft is turning. Can I check the impeller by eye? Getting hot water coming through ok, but don't know how as the boiler isn't firing up for any length of time to heat it. When the boiler periodically does fire up it's still tripping out after a few minutes. The pipes on...

No heating or hot water but boiler very hot

Update: Checked pump and there is movement, I got the boiler to fire-up very briefly but there was no hot water coming through the pump. The impeller appears to be turning freely and there was little/no water came out when unscrewed.

No heating or hot water but boiler very hot

Oh and by screw do you mean the big silver screw (this is on the front as it's facing out the way), or is there another screw I need to remove?

No heating or hot water but boiler very hot

Thanks Oilhead, does the heating system need to be running to check this? Just to know so that I put it on before going outside. How would I check water pressure? the gauge outside says 2.25bar and there is air in the radiators being pushed out.

No heating or hot water but boiler very hot

Hi all, I have an oil fired system (ACV boiler - old, no model number visible on it). Heating was working ok earlier today but went to put it on a while ago and nothing. I went out to the boiler house and the boiler pipes are all hot (to the pump is scolding). I turned the boiler up to Max and...

    It's cold out

-8 at 7am this morning up here. It's a bit of a more reasonable +1 just now but as Di2 has beat me to adding it's pi$hing down here too. Could be worse, my father-in-law works in Frankfurt and last night it was -16, they are really getting hit with this Siberian cold front.
