    under Floor Heating

I did yes - thermostat (prong) lives under the floor and the timer is wired off the switched fused spur! Good luck - ps do not cut the heating cable whatever you do! And make sure there is no exposed heating cable - it must all be covered in adhesive.

    under Floor Heating

Hi Recently did our underfloor heating in the bathroom - not as bad as I thought it would be except for the fact the "boss" ordered too much and cut the cable halfway through! Dont know if you know how to work out the amount you need but spoke to the supplier and the equation they gave me is...

    Conduit

Cool thanks - I use clips similar. The only difference is that they dont clip back and lock. I find them easier and as you pointed out neater. On the odd occasion I use the saddles but without the plate as I find they move too much. Life would be easier if you didnt have to use the stuff at all!

    Conduit

    Cable racks

Can anyone recommend a cable rack? Looking at investing in a smallish one - just to hold a drum at a time is fine. I know of rack a tier but didn't know if anyone has come across any other products. Thanks

    Conduit

Thanks for that. I see what you mean by pulling your own bends - I assume you use metal conduit? As I use pvc I have to use the manufacturers bends etc - I do my best to make sure it looks good. If I use circular through boxes etc I assume I will still have to fit them with the screws showing? I...

    Conduit

Thanks for the reply. I didn't realise that inspection tees etc are that crap. They are all our electrical supplier does - can you recommend a brand/product to use instead? Do you mean that between the bends there has to be an inspection point or just at one of the bends? Pull your own bends...

    Conduit

Hi all I often use pvc rigid conduit to run my cables on the outside of a house-99% of the time its 10mm earth but occasionally its a new ring. Question is do I have to fit the inspection tees and elbows with the screws facing outwards? I ask because there are no join anywhere in the cables...

    High kA reading

Hi Plugwash - they are mcbs that I am using - had to order them in especially - £30 carriage!!! I understand that the rec fuse will provide back up should such a fault occur but then there is a risk of the mcb's being damaged - I ask myself is it worth the risk. I think for the 15 mins or so...

Advice, surely 300mm for sockets near sinks is too much ??

in my humble opinion the socket should be in such a position so that you can not stand at the sink and reach out and touch the socket at the same time. I know you can put it closer or behind providing it has adequate IP coding.

    Faulty socket or dodgy computer?

Thanks guys - before I was 99.9% I was correct - now I know I am!!! Strangely when we did the job for her she was spot on and never gave us trouble - even when we had to rip up the upstairs floor to replace broken leg in ring! Will see what she says before I judge her! Moose? I like...

    Faulty socket or dodgy computer?

Thanks for reply. The pc is def not a pentium and looks at least 10 years old - have decided that if she is still not happy and insists that the socket blew it up then she can get a second opinion and if I am wrong then I will pay - my money is safe tho! :D
