    Something I don't understand - 2.5mm Cable Rating

Not Equally. The current will take the path of least resistance (i.e. the shortest leg). Unless, of course, the socket outlet is in the exact middle of the ring.

    Re-Wiring Telephone into house.

Don't BT have a thing whereby if you return to them they will do your re-connection free? Phone sales and say you want to leave Virgin and return to BT but you don't want to pay the re-connection fee and see if they will let it go.

CU and Rewire and PP Question

Of course he'd be well within his rights - there is no obligation on him to do any work at all if he doesn't want to! I was just wondering why he would leave rather than doing the testing as asked for. What would be the difference from testing that install and doing a periodic inspection on an...

It's beacuse of the latter - the need to turn of both MCBs. Thanks for the tip - I'll do a continuity test and see if it is just simply a mix up with the ends of the rings. I won't be there untill next week, so will report back then. Thanks again.

    Wax dots on fuse?

Surely if they have melted there must be a fault leading to overheating - unless you understand it, I'd have it checked out!

    Tracing a ring main interconnect

It looks like the two ring mains in my house appear to be interconnected. It's not a large property, and has three power circuits. 1. Radial on a 20A MCB powering 2 13A sockets (bedroom 1 and lounge). No problems here. 2. Ring main on 32A MCB that appears to be for the downstairs - kitchen...
