    are you sure you need whole dv? If rod is failing to come out or far enough to engage micro switch them you could just replace diaphram. Quite easy to change too.

    yes thats a syphon, but if you cistern sits directly onto the pan it is what is known as a closed couple cistern and is sealed by compression on a flange once taken apart and new new syphon fitted these flange's can leak just as easy t replace as they do not cost much and would save you some hassle.

    yea iso can be done. Just be carefull if you iso the cold inlet as once isolated you will need to open a hot tap to release pressure on the hot feed. This can also drop a pressure in the cylinder which requires a drain down and refill to pressurize. This is only on some models.
