    Repair hardboard drawer base

Thanks guys, some very useful suggestions there. I will examine the drawers a bit more closely and see what state the bases etc are in re: re-attach or replace them

    Repair hardboard drawer base

Hi, I just bought this vintage sideboard but the drawer bottoms are bowed and have popped out of the slots at the back. How can I fix these to ensure they don’t pop out again? I don’t think glue would be up to the job on its own? Back and sides are some sort of white plastic with a slot all...

    Filling/covering screw holes in plastic

Anything wrong with a neat white (or coloured) circular sticker? Filling and sanding sounds a recipe for a poor finish.

Capping rail or similar for gate

I’ve inherited this gate with my newish house. I want to cap that top piece of the frame to stop water pooling on it, as it is already starting to go grungy/rotten at the house end. The top piece is 2.4m long and 100mm wide. I think my lack of knowledge of the terms used for this are...

Advice on levelling part of garden for play fort?

the similar product we had was anchored to rings cemented in the ground. In our case the rings were made level, but the ground wasn't (was only v slightly sloping)

    Floor edges visible through karndean

Thanks for the reply. Regarding the DPM, apols there is one under the chipboard apparently - I have edited my post above The floor is certainly not billiard table flat! From the moment I mentioned it builders have been saying you can't expect 100% perfection ... The mfctr states that any wood...

    Floor edges visible through karndean

To update this, the builders have spent a couple of days lifting tiles across the floor and mechanically fixing the chipboard down into the slab ie. screwing the edges of each board down a few mm. This has helped - a lot of the joints are barely perceptible under foot/hand except when the...

    Floor edges visible through karndean

What do you think is a fair resolution? Don’t pay a penny until the whole thing is correct? That’ll mean lifting the whole thing, changing insulation depth, new chipboard floor , and new ply, right? He’s going to love that.

    Floor edges visible through karndean

Builder did it all above the slab. When I say builder did it, I mean literally did it himself. No separate flooring guy. From a picture I took of the glue tub it is Ball Styccobond F46 pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive.

    Floor edges visible through karndean

No chance of rescuing any of it then? Not even the tiles? Would you pay for any of it to be redone? I’m half thinking of telling them to leave it there, but paying half or something.

    Floor edges visible through karndean

Presumably the fix isn’t something simple like relaying the Karndean? This looks like quite a fundamental issue to me … Everything lifted down to the celotx and relevelled and relayed? One issue we’ll have is the door level. I don’t know what to suggest really. If I had diy’d it I might live...

    Floor edges visible through karndean

The slab was there, but the rest was organised by the builder.

    Floor edges visible through karndean

Hi, I guess this isn't normal? Karndean fitted last week in new extension and into existing concrete kitchen floor. Floor makeup is concrete slab, small depth of screed to level, celotex, chipboard floor, latex, sanded high points, then karndean. Every single row is visible and each row dips to...

    Smell from drain

I am presuming there's a gully under the sealed cover in the utility room (which I need to open to check for issues) Are you saying there should also be a trap at the inlet where the linear drain goes under the building?

    Smell from drain

I know nothing about drains so please bear with me as our drains have started stinking the garden up & the house when the doors/windows are open (internally no smell). We have a linear drain that runs around our utility and extension into a combined waste/rain water drain - red arrows in pic...
