    Portable AC unit issue

Got a Homebase portable AC unit but the exhaust fan has stopped working, as a result the unit overheats. I've stripped the casing off, checked the fan is free, check all connections and still no joy. Any advice? I'm usually pretty good at repairing my tumble dryers and washing machines but never...

    Copper Glue

damm... Ive got over 100 joints to do. With that process it may take a while but better to do it correct

    Copper Glue

Thanks everyone. I have some normal Araldite so might do a test joint with that and see how it goes.

    Copper Glue

I normally do but not possible for the job I need. I will be soldering some things but a couple of bits I need/want to be completely clean - no discolouration in the metal, no flux or solder residue etc. literally need it to look like everything has simply been pushed together.

    Copper Glue

The joints are just going to be copper to copper using usual elbows and tees. For all I know superglue might be strong enough but wanted to get some opinions as I have never needed to glue copper in the past

    Copper Glue

Building a few bits of furniture out of copper pipe and need to glue the joints together. They will need to take a little bit of support weight but not and internal pressure like normal joints would. Only copper glue I have seen was £30 for 10g Not exactly for plumbing but thought you may have...

    Ceiling PIR senor

Walk through to the dining room so PIR is more efficient if hands are full

    Ceiling PIR senor

Thanks John. If I wanted to use it with a downlight and LED bulb what would the way around be?

    Ceiling PIR senor

Thanks. I've got a little endoscope so might have a look where the junction box is and try and do it correctly because if I used a downlight it would be with an LED bulbs which I suspect wouldnot work either

    Ceiling PIR senor

At the moment it is just a standard ceiling rose with an energy efficient bulb. Probably going to change it to either a down light or some sort of flush ceiling light but happy to adjust the light to suit the sensor as that's probably more important

    Ceiling PIR senor

Bit of googling and I can find plenty of wall PIR switches that are 2 wire to replace a normal switch. Anything stopping me from attaching one of those to a ceiling. It's quite a low ceiling anyway.

    Ceiling PIR senor

Thanks. The wiring is in a junction box which is very difficult to get to without opening up the ceiling so I don't think it is going to be possible if it needs the 3 core unless anyone else suggests otherwise as I've never wired in PIRs before

    Ceiling PIR senor

Little confused by different things I've read. Looking to replace a switch with a ceiling PIR in a little walk way in our house. Is it simply a case of taking the switch wire to the PIR or have I got to use 3 core? This is what I was looking at...

Struggling to find entry style door handles

Ive just installed a new oak front door and my wife wants an entry style handle similar to the image below but I am really struggling to find them in the UK. May sound strange but I cant even find an official name for that style. The odd one or two that I have found are either not suitable or...

    Hikvision for IP CCTV system?

I have done quite a bit of research but I honestly didn't know this could be done.... may have to rethink my approach now.

    Hikvision for IP CCTV system?

HD-TVI was a close second but I was under the impression you still had to run power to them? if that is wrong then I may take another look at them as the cameras were cheaper and therefore I could probably get better quality cameras for my budget.

    Hikvision for IP CCTV system?

Thanks I have done a fair bit of research and that led me down the route of an IP system. PoE being the main reason if I'm honest. Was going to have fixed lense to save a few pound but I see the advantages of VF and would probably regret it later if I didn't buy them.
