Well I thought it was a bit strange as the main switch is double pole and isolates all live conductors anyway. Only reason I could think was so that even the tails entering the Consumer Unit were isolated so the board was ALL dead (not just the circuits)

Am i right in saying that when a new consumer unit is installed on a single phase supply there should be a double pole switch between incoming companies fuse and the Consumer Unit??? Was reading the 17th edition the other day and spotted this?? Regards Ian

Can anybody explain why lightbulbs on a 3 head light fitting keep popping at random times? Put a new bulb in and it lasted about 2 days then another one lasted about 1 week! Any help appreciated!

Yes the rest of lighting circuit is earthed, just that one switch! I was concerned of the possibility of a live conductor coming out touching the back box thus making the screws on the faceplate live!!

you know exactly where im coming from bernard green! Alot of commercial sparks on sites can wire from a drawing and install to a high standard but havent done design courses, therefore dont understand the reasons behind!
