    Well I thought it was a bit strange as the main switch is double pole and isolates all live conductors anyway. Only reason I could think was so that even the tails entering the Consumer Unit were isolated so the board was ALL dead (not just the circuits)

    Light bulbs keep popping

    Can anybody explain why lightbulbs on a 3 head light fitting keep popping at random times? Put a new bulb in and it lasted about 2 days then another one lasted about 1 week! Any help appreciated!

    Rccd tripping

    Thanks for the quick reply. I had a feeling that they had had a surge which caused then to fail but was wondering how these anit surge units were made and wat happened inside them to cause an earth fault. I'm just curious. And sorry for the exclamation marks I'm using my iPhone and its habbit.

    Yes the rest of lighting circuit is earthed, just that one switch! I was concerned of the possibility of a live conductor coming out touching the back box thus making the screws on the faceplate live!!
