Instead of digging and sorting out a gully, is it not more feasible to do some sort of paving, with the relevant slope? You have drain off at the end leading to somewhere. Direct the water back in and let the person further on deal with it

On our local news not long ago, they done a segment about ebay and people selling any old rope, this bloke went to some beach and found some proper used, crap beyond belief rope that had washed up, sold it on ebay for 20 quid.
