    Dripping mixer tap, ceramic cartridge

The problem is the stopcock passes too much water. I can change a cartridge because the water just spills onto the draining board. MFI built the new kitchen over the stopcock with just a small hole for the T-handle of the cock in the side of a corner cupboard.

    Dripping mixer tap, ceramic cartridge

That pic is a stock photo I posted to show you what style/shape of tap it is. Mum's is not a Franke fitting, it's a cheap MFI contract mixer with plastic cartridges.

    Dripping mixer tap, ceramic cartridge

Ive been to my mums today, she is complaining the kitchen mixer tap is dripping. It is, badly! The tap was installed by MFI along with the kitchen about 10 years ago. I have no idea what make tap it is, looks like any generic 1/4turn mixer. I've had the handles off and there are...

    Pump replacement

ok cheers. I've just peered at a picture of a pump connector and can see a red rubber washer. I guess our old plumber was an old school guy who applied sealing stuff to everything out of habit. I am a spark by trade and can wire up anything in my sleep but the sight of a weeping compression...

    Pump replacement

oh that explains the extension piece then. That must've been some big pump! My M&D had a new CH system in 1972 and they had a 'Selectos' or something which was the same size as that Gold...but painted blue. The last pump I saw being installed, the plumber used bosswhite and hemp around the...

    Pump replacement

Hi, we turned the heating on for the first time since summer and the pump is knocking, it has been noisy for a while. It is a Euramo Salmson Gold. I took this picture because it looks like a bit of a bodge...like the whole of the heating in this 70's house! I guess the plumber on the estate...

Doepke board - can Protek be fitted in them?

I think so long as one understands that forcing the wrong type of mcb into a board (for example one with subtle height differences in the terminals) could make it split or stress the internal components compromising its performance, and you can ascertain that a replacement mcb is exactly the...
