    Wall cupboards over cooker

That's what we have. There's a hob in the worktop. Oven underneath. There is also a filter/exhaust type hood that we don't use, about 750mm above the worktop, then the cupboard which we don't use for anything 'cause it's a PITA to use. Not sure if it's legal/acceptable/sensible- but i...

    Plasterboard Alternatives.

See what you mean about support for the shelf at the back and sides with batons - didn't read it properly. Yes, this is a good option. Will it really be 100% secure. I'm thinking about a long 4m piece of wood and how it might bend if not fully supported.

I think the plan i have to support the shelves will leave me more room to use the space differently inside. We still haven't really planned how we'll use it more than - "skirts there, shirts there, trousers there, shoes here" - sort of thing. The doors - the plan was to fit them and the frame...

Brilliant, i'll go with MDF then. The shelf, i plant to put a facia on it, yes. I was going to make some triangular supports and use those to put the shelf up. The hanging rail is a 45mm, 3mm walled steel gas piping. I have some Cast metal fittings that i am having powder coated in white -...

    I have killed my lawn

Bitch pee will scorch your bright green grass into hay like a blow torch. Maybe you put too much fert down and scorched them with all the Nitrogen - not sure what's in the evergreen complete. Have used it a couple of times and it worked really well. To be honest, it gave the grass a head...

    Cat's!!

Let me chime in! I hate cats too - all our neighbours have at least one. I've been looking at getting one of those sonic repellers. I think the neighbours are more than happy to pick up their cat crap. I am not. I've looked, but they all say "Works for 50m!!!" I'm imagining a 50m...

Yea, i've already thought about the access to the shelf. It will most likely be lower than 6ft. So, can i use MDF or Hardboard to clad the stud-wall, shave the edges, nail/screw them down then plaster/fill over them and come out with a high quality finish?

    Plasterboard Alternatives.

OK, sorry for the lack of detail. I've been looking at built-in wardrobes for ages and most of them appear to be either A) a carcass, kitchen-cupboard-type thing, which is fitted with other carcasses together on a wall and doors fitted. OR B) bespoke joinery fitted by chippy. Okay, so...

i though ply was built up with wood whos grain is at differing angles - producing a piece of wood that has equal strength in all directions.

Yea cool, that makes sense. I would like to build the stud wall though. I think it will make it a lot more sturdy and look as though it really is meant to be there, built in. Do you think I can use hardboard instead of plasterboard? Chamfer the edges, nail/screw them to the studding and then...

    Plasterboard Alternatives.

Yea, get the chippy to make the doors and the actual frame with the rebate in. When i know how thick the doors/frame will be, I can setup the stud wall. I'd then screw the Chippy-Frame to the stud wall and hang the doors.

Hi, THanks for the replys. I am talking about building a wall with a door in it (two doors actually) with door frames that has behind it approx. 70/80cm of depth where i can put a rail and a shelf. The front of the wall will have skirting board running along it. I will take the S.board...

Hello Board! I am in the process of designing a built in wardrobe unit for our master bedroom. My basic idea is to get a chippy to knock up some thin interior doors and a matching PAR frame. I would build the stud work, put a shelf and rail in and do the finishing. I know plasterboard is...

    Garden Shredders

And on that note - I've had a McCulloch (sp?) one, electric and supposedly able to cut 30mm or so. It was rubbish. Totally useless. After looking around for a few years and seeing those of friends; I have to conclude that you will need a petrol one. And yes 50mm is too thick. Mr. T.

    Quick Shower Type Question

Hi. I want to install a new shower into my bathroom. We currently have a mixer onto both taps and it's really low pressure. I'm a bit confused over all the different shower types. I'd like about 1.5 bar of water pressure - that is my only requirement alongside having a shower that doesn't...

    Wardrobe Project

Hello Board! Okay, so basically I want to build some fitted wardrobes across the width of our main bedroom in our brand new house. I'm looking for some input and help - here's what I'm planning on doing: 1. I'd like to find a supplier of doors, drawers and runners etc. etc. I figure...

    CH temper mental

We don't have TRV's fitted. I have found the bypass - i'll do the measurements on the boiler first. Last night, it didn't work - so i turned everything off at the programmer. Usually, we leave it for an hour and turn it back on again. This time i turned the proggy on after 10mins -...

    CH temper mental

A plumber that came in said we had to have HW and CH at the same time, because of the way it was setup. Did he mean the way the pipes are or is he talking about the controller? Is there some reason why they physical layout of the pipes would stop us having just CH if we needed it? Is it...
