The fault is probably due to the cold water inlet filter on the boiler being partially bocked.

Check the water level in the head tank situated in the attic, if low check that the ball valve to see if it is stuck or blocked.

Your guess work is correct, they are both calling for heat, normally closed, (nc). They will switch open when temp is satisfied

It could also be a problem with the flow/proximity switch. This would be the case if the boiler does not fire when a hot tap is turned on with the heating switched OFF.

In that case I would suspect that the Diverter valve is faulty, you should feel resistance on the lever with the heating off

Ok, turn off the heating and wait for twenty minutes or so, you should hear the boiler firing every so often, ,this is to heat the water in the heatslave tank, Then see if the water gets hot after this time.

Does the boiler stay on when heating is selected, can you hear the pump running?. The hot water will take a while to get hot, the diverter valve lever will be loose when heating is ON but restistance will be felt when OFF

If you bled the rads with the heating switched on this has probably sucked air into the system. So bleed them with the heating OFF and bleed the three air vents on the top of the boiler (under the top cover).

What is the make and model No of the boiler, is it a worcester heatslave, did you bleed the radiators with the heating switched off?. Have you bled the air from the top of the boiler?.

If it is a combi boiler, unvented system, with no hot water cylinder, then you will need to repressure the system. If it is a vented system (with a hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard). You will probably find that the small head tank in the attic has no water in it due to the ball valve...

You should be left with three green earth wires, all three connect to the earth terminal. Or all joined together using a choc block. Please read my earlier post.

Check that the small header tank in the attic is at least one third full of water and that the float valve is not stuck.
