Wisdom of pumping off the main...

Not sure if it's still the case but you used to be allowed to pump the mains, but no more than 12 lpm - any more needed approval from the water authority. It might be worth speaking to them to check.

Hot water system, water heats up but none comes out!

If the flow of water is ok when you open a hot tap, then I'd check the pump and flowswitch first - does the pump come on when a hot tap is opened ? If the flow of water is not too good from the hot taps - then could be blocked plate heat exchanger - are you in hard water area?

    No hot water

I'm certainly not into ripping people off ! I was trying to suggest to the op that the job may not have been as straightforward as a straight pump swap. If he thinks it only ever takes 20 mins he's bound to feel ripped off.

    No hot water

Depends what system he's got, if it's an old boilermate and he's replaced the grundfos pump with another grundfos then thats at least £70 plus £20 to £30 for inhibitor after draining it down ( we all know the pump isolators Gledhill used will leak if touched) - that leaves "the robbing git" with...

    Do I need a Negative Pump….

You need a negative head pump. Or fit something like an Qqualisa Visage (pumped version) - there's probably not much between the two in price

    Plumbing Electrics

To the OP, For what it's worth I would suggest contacting Stelflow and explain whats happened. Ask them if you can still have the 25 year cylinder guarantee if you have the wiring re done by a qualified electrician (who is familiar with unvented wiring) and you get the cylinder checked /...
