Is your hot water pressure from the hot taps very good (almost mains pressure) or pretty poor ?

Looks more like a combination cylinder than a thermal store to me !

Sounds like a hopper box. Are the waste pipes outside frozen ?

A primatic cylinder uses just the one tank in the loft. If you change to an indirect cylinder you'll need to put an extra tank up there for feed & expansion of the central heating system.

If the hot and cold are to be pumped, you'll need to run a dedicated cold feed to the pump from the storage cistern in the loft. This will give you equal pressures and the best chance of it working well. regards

Agile - I don't know what you mean by "does not need a low resistance pipe into it" either !

As Mickyg suggested check mains inlet pressure against EV pressure. Do this at the PRV next to the Tribune - not where the mains enters the house. Have you got a water softener - you could lose 1 bar through a softener. This could mean your inlet pressure to the Tribune PRV is around...

I seem to remember "1 open vent per 6 houses minimum" so it might be worth a call to building control to check.

Or it could be a grey square thing with a wire coming out - depending on age of your Megaflow.

Round white plastic thing (about 4 inch diameter) with wire coming out. On side of cylinder. You should have one or two of these?

You can turn the stat up a little if its worn. Do you have one or two immersions?

I agree with Jertzee, probably a diaphragm/divertor valve problem.

I would advise you to get someone who is familiar with unvented cylinders (and is qualified to G3) to take a look. If it is the duostat it's not going to cost much in labour to replace it, - but as it's one of the safety items on an unvented cylinder it's better to be safe than sorry. kind...

Sounds like 2 x 2ports. You need to check for continuity across the duostat, terminals 2 & C with the stat turned up to max. - This is best done with a multimeter. This will confirm if the duostat is a problem or not.

In you airing cupboard do you have two 2 port valves or, one 3 port valve and one 2 port valve ?

Am I right in thinking you've got an unvented cylinder (hence the duostat) ? It should have the make / model written on it.
