Karcher pressure washer hunting when stopped

That's possible, I'll check, though I doubt there's much I can do about it. Just checked Karcher website - no service agents in the midlands at all. Not good.

Karcher pressure washer hunting when stopped

My Karcher has started hunting when I release the trigger and I have to turn off its power switch until I'm ready to start again. This is the second Karcher I've had to develop exactly the same problem. It makes it pretty useless, and for this to happen to a £300 machine that has only been...

    Charging rechargeable batteries

That's a helpful post - thanks. In the end I left the four cells in the charger until it switched itself off after 15 hours. They did get quite hot to the touch after a while though so I was a bit concerned about safety, but needlessly it seems. I don't have the means to test the voltage...

    Charging rechargeable batteries

It has a max charge time of 15 hours, but as its charge rate is very different from the charge rate stated on the new batteries it is meaningless. It doesn't have any other timing mechanism, maybe the later PC10 does.

    Charging rechargeable batteries

I posted that information in my first post

    Charging rechargeable batteries

OK, seems it's a bit suck it and see. The charger is a Fameart PC02, probably made about ten years ago. A4s are charged in pairs with an LED for each pair to tell you whether they are charging or not. I don't know whether it's smart enough to stop if the batteries are fully charged so I'll...

    Charging rechargeable batteries

My four new batteries were warm after just one hour on charge, so what do I make of that?

    Charging rechargeable batteries

All very interesting but is there actually anyone here other than big-all who is interested in trying to answer my question?

    Charging rechargeable batteries

My last lot of rechargeable batteries finally gave up the ghost so I bought a pack of four AAs from Maplin. I still have the old charger and am wondering how long to give them as the pack says to observe charging time. The batteries say 1.2V replaces Alkaline 1.5V, 2000mAh, charge before use...

    Tarmac drive maintenance

Thanks for that tip - sounds perfect for my situation.

    Tarmac drive maintenance

Our large U-shaped drive is of tarmac with edging blocks. Both sides are tree lined so every spring we get the early stages of moss forming - basically an unsightly green stain. It's possible but slow to remove most of it with a patio cleaning brush on a jet washer. If I were to use the power...

    Electric underfloor heating

Yep, very aware of that but it is only a floor warmer, not intended to provide room heat. The system does have a built-in power consumption monitor and I'll be keeping a close eye on that. Short term I've been using one of these readouts that show power being used for the entire house. That's...

    Electric underfloor heating

Just tweaked it up and the limit is 40C, but then set it back to 23 - my leccy bill is quite high enough already! Hopefully she will switch her focus on to something else that isn't up to her expectations ;-) I can already sense she isn't wildly impressed by all this designer stuff that's been...

    Electric underfloor heating

The control allows higher temperatures than 26C but I'm a bit cautious about pushing it too high - maybe there's still some moisture under there - don't want steam pressure lifting our new tiles! :-)

    Electric underfloor heating

Read my post, it covered all of that.

    Electric underfloor heating

Thank you John. Would you mind explaining the physics to her? Doesn't seem to make much impression when I do ;-)

    Electric underfloor heating

Recently had the bathroom done and had underfloor heating installed. Wife is complaining tiles don't really feel warm, which they don't, they just don't strike cold as they do in our other tiled rooms. It's an automatic system from Porcelanosa that just keeps the tiles at a preset 23C though...

    Underfloor leak in CH

More than two years now and the Fernox has done the job. The only loss now is a very gradual fall in average pressure over a few months due I guess to tiny losses from valves and bleeds. Opening the water supply to the system there is no perceptible flow and I just leave it open 2-3 hours to...

Inconsistent hot water from Vaillant 850

Fair point, but the saving on my current EDF tariff is in excess of £800 p.a. My Hometeam contract costs £204 p.a. and covers servicing and all parts. And even the Potty used to need servicing - about £70 p.a. For me, the combi has been brilliant, but I've got a protected boiler room with a...
