    Have you got a combi or traditional system? is your main stop tap turned on full? do you live in an old house with lead water pipes etc? do you have a pressure reducing valve fitted?

    No point just putting in a cyl stat without it controlling something ie zone valve on dhw return as previously posted change in 18 months when funds allow bearing in mind you will probably waste around £300 with it being inefficient

    Vokera compact is more likely to be 3-5 years old common easy fix fault is to replace thermister

    If makers instructions say you can then it is ok (otherwise it may be difficult to remove from housing) it is the gas hob which must be on a rigid fix

    Read inst'n instructions for shower pump as they may insist that you have to cut a hole in cylinder & fit essex flange. Are you sure pipe @ top of cylinder is 2"

    All that will need replacing is the motor in the dhw zone valve BG offer a pixed price repair as stated inc call out parts & labour. The call centre is not in india more likely the leeds or leicester one with asian staff

    Why not just change the clock for a programmable room stat (clock & stat combined) easy to fit & cost around £30 to £50

    ideal elan seal

    If my memory serves me right the elan is a positive fanned flue so the case seal is vital. That part is no longer available (by reasonable sources ie an old retired plumber may have one in his toolbox which is unreasonable) so the only option is to change the boiler

    vaillant 828/2

    A quick check to see if you have an un-modified diverter is to check the holes drilled into the side of the valve. If they are about 1mm it is an old valve if they are about 3mm it is a new one 5 years is probably the newer one as i have the same blr which i fit in feb 2003 & has never let me down

    If it has gravity circs check f & e tank in loft is full as ballcock may be stuck in the closed position

    Most common place for blockage is where cold feed meets system especially if it is on a cross vented "h" system
