    consumer unit

Hey Timmy Lets be clear about this, what I said in my post are the basic requirements, almost all Consumer Units are rated at 100A, It's what goes inside them thats important. A Plastic/Insulated Split-Load board with a 100A/100mA Type-S RCD should be first, then a selection of MCB's...

    Hello junction box

lol, No problem I don't mind people showing interest as long as they don't get in the way of my work, Kids always like to hang over your shoulder and it can be a right pain!

    consumer unit

LOL, lets me completely clear about this Timmy firstly there is nothing said about not having an rcd, you should have one! on a TT supply first you would have a 100mA Time Delayed RCD (Type-S), this would protect everything, then somewhere further down the line you have another RCD, this...

    Hello junction box

You need to be Glanding to Metal Boxes or a Metal encloser of some description, glanding to plastic is un-reliable. What you described is an earth ring\banjo, this is placed through the gland, the smaller hole is for bolting through the enclosure and then the earth is taken from this.

    Bathroom supplementary bonding

If you can't bond the shower pipe without causing damage, then don't! bond every accessible pipe in the bathroom, then bond into all the electrical earth terminals in electrical switches/shower/shaver socket etc.

    new light fitting

lol Yep, don't you just hate connections under floor boards, especially since there meant to be accessible 8)

    new light fitting

Nice one, Don't forget to isolate whenever working on circuits, the neutral is technicaly a live conductor and always has a return voltage.

    new light fitting

Hey TonTo Yes, the switch can tell me alot about the setup and as you say it's one-way and one-gang which sounds pretty normal for a living room. the funny thing is you say theres these three wires, is it three wires and an earth or just three wires there has to be two lives either way...
  17. L

    new light fitting

Hey Tonto Im afraid you missed out somthing critical......The Switch! it's likely that one cables goes to the switch, the brown takes the live to the switch, and the blue brings it back, the blue should have been sleeved brown so the unwise know its live. if you have found red + yellow...

    Terminal Boxes

Nothing wrong with using one of them conduit boxes anyway, saves using grommits, its all smooth plastic so running Twin + Earth cables in them would be no problem and can't see why you can't use a junction box either
