Hi all I am looking for a solution to a little issue I have. I have never been able to get good DTV reception so have always used sky in the main room of the house and then used the RF out with magic eye in all other rooms and also DTV (all be it intermittent/naff signal) Now as the main TV...

holes in ceiling. (moved from Projects)

Depending on the size you could fit a hatch into at least one of them to access that area in future. if you have the cut-outs you can put some battens across and then screw it all back in then get plasterer in to fix it.

Garage build - Upto DPC now how do i do the base

I also put 100mm kingspan in mine so I can use it for other things if I ever needed too. My guys also put steel mesh in to reinforce it it was a double garage so maybe that's why they did it or possibly due to the kingspan being user it all.

    Underfloor Heating - Help needed!

I was in this dilemma with floor height too, you either have to bite the bullet and go with the trays or not have UFH upstairs. The problem with the trays is you still don't have the thermal mass for the UFH to work well. In the end I went with a few rads upstairs and it works fine. If you do go...

Would you tile a kitchen without underfloor heating?

Is the house well insulated and is the slab insulated? If not its without doubt going to be a lot cooler in the winter.

Wet underfloor heating - install under cupboards?

I didn't fit it under mine as I have electric UFH in the old kitchen and its the whole room, even with gaps at the top of plinths the cabs are still a tad warm inside. The extension was designed round the kitchen plan so no UFH under the cabs all three firms recommended that no wet UFH was under...

Back to topic (I drifted) I UFH both wet and electric and some rooms just on rads, 90% of my downstairs is tiles i have two zones without UFH and both are tiled (small areas) and its very cold in winter, one is non insulated or should I say suspected no insulation from existing slab and the...

Would you tile a kitchen without underfloor heating?

Do you not have a feed pipe for the current Radiators (you said your having 3 fitted) although not ideal I have my UFH system on the same run as my rads too no ill effect.

Would you tile a kitchen without underfloor heating?

As you are having it built if no slab is in place why not put in a wet UFH system? They are not that expensive and are far cheaper to run.

    Are my costings right?

I agree here, you can spend few hundred pounds just on pipe and fittings. As for electrics go round draw a plan figure out roughly how much cable and sockets would be required and to what spec you ant them. This will help when getting quotes too. I can easily see £600 plus just in parts.

Screed, underfloor heat and bifolds !! Help

My screed was one with fibres in but I wouldn't rush it anyway - we left it a few weeks then put a very thin layer of self level on so we could tile direct but my system was wet UFH. in the rooms where i put cable down it was existing sub floor.

Screed, underfloor heat and bifolds !! Help

Check with the UFH he's using but most are under the tile. If you were going to heat all the screed the heat up time would be quite a long wait but then it would take alot longer to cool down so its swings and roundabouts but I bet any electric element would be under tile only I have never seen...

Screed, underfloor heat and bifolds !! Help

I have fit the UFH mat/cable at tile level all screed and insulation is below it. So its... subfloor - in your case screed insulation board UFH mat/cable tile adhesive thick enough to cover the cable - I also ALWAYS put in a extra probe for the UFH controller

Screed, underfloor heat and bifolds !! Help

You don't have to put insulation down as you already have it under the slab BUT it does make heat up quicker, depending on brand of heating element they can be between 3mm so lost in the adhesive up to 10mm so more adhesive required. Remember if you are putting the 6mm boards down you also need...

Check with BC officer they will know for sure, or you could just risk it and then replace the glass if they spot it as a issue.
