Best method to scan and share documents?

You can buy a dedicated scanner either flat bed or feed versions but also a lot of printers have the same function. You can normally scan in multiple ways such as word docs, PDFs, JPEG and quite a few more types. As for sharing them how do you mean via email etc?

    Kichen and Bathroom DISASTER

Sorry I didn't explain it very well in the original post. I meant paying the builder upfront in that context.

    Kitchen Ventilation

The reason they are one size fits all is that when you sell, change cooking methods to pre historic ones or just grow old and die someone else who is say not as clued up as you will cook in their way thus a one size fits all is required. The last thing you want is damp in the house. I think...

    Kichen and Bathroom DISASTER

I guess I don't use big firms and no builder has ever said I cant supply the materials myself or I pay direct for them, in fact most like it that way. Maybe I have been lucky but its worked for me so far in life. I guess I get so involved that I know it inside out and have researched anything...

    Septic tank damaged

For your faulty tank I would look to get a second chamber as your soakaway is going to fail if you do not fix this.

    Getting an extension underway

I would recommend if you are bringing in a builder and want to keep control of cost to get fully specified drawings done exactly how you want them, you both know what's what and prices can be calculated on them. As for the planning that's out of my skill set to advise.

How much insulation goes into new loft extensions or new builds

Most probably 120-130mm of The roofing type of board (there are different spec of boards) then to meet regs for U value, of if no U value then what ever you can get to fit that allows ventilation still

    Septic tank damaged

I know very little about your type of tank with it being fibreglass. We used to have a brick built tank with two sections as described by you, in one was the dirty side in the other was a load of stone to filter the water to the outlet pipe for the soak away. Now it was a unusual design but it...

How much insulation goes into new loft extensions or new builds

Well on a new build its what is specified in the build drawings and the same goes for extensions. If its not under building control then most probably anything between nothing a 300mm depending what you are doing or who is doing it.

    Kichen and Bathroom DISASTER

I agree here, if the builder really cared about this having made as you say £4000 off the cabinets then he would be round sorting it out for FREE and would of stated that fact to you over and over again. I didnt quite follow your break down of costs on this job but it all seems very high to me...

    Kichen and Bathroom DISASTER

Do keep us updated on this!! I have been lucky enough to never fall foul to losing my money but have fallen for bad builders. I will never ever pay "them" (Builders) up front even for materials (I would pay for the materials myself). Not much help to you I know sorry. Lets hope you can find a...

Resin Bathroom worktop - contacts / advice

its not cheap stuff, do you have a local granite company we have two round here and they both do resin and granite so quite lucky, they do still charge for a sheet though as does a friend of mine that does resin - it is quite labour intensive to do. I will be honest I don't think £500 is that...

Resin Bathroom worktop - contacts / advice

Speak to a kitchen fitter a lot of them can do the resin stuff but to be honest they probably have to purchase a sheet of it and then anything left may be yours.

    Ridiculous costs for electrican's work?

Its hard to comment when we don't know the ins and outs in full and not enough information but for £4500 I would be expecting a near full rewire. I would at this point bite the bullet and get another spark in to give you a price you at least have a comparison (even if you have to pay a few...

Advice/information please - potential problems caused by drilling into cavity wall for air vent.

They push air from outside or the loft or both into your living areas to give you fresher/filtered air. They help with damp and can also recover heat from the loft area. I had a nuair one before we extended our house and it did a brilliant job of controlling damp/humid air.

    Concrete kitchen worksurfaces

Can you not just polish up the surface you have? I have seen it done on TV but never tried it. Self level would def crack if you tried to cuff it or dropped something on it.
