Going to disagree with ypu.Maybe for diy use ,some of those brushes in B&Q are ok but a lot of the cheaper ones are rubbish. As a pro I have used many different brushes over the years and the Purdy are excellent for application and cutting in without any bristle loss at all.Not saying the O/P...

You wont go wrong getting Purdy synthetic brushes there about the best out there and give excellent results.I use long pile 12 inch rollers for walls...

Just to add as said rake the lot out completly then rub down edges of paintwork to remove burs before caulking,this will give a better caulk line

They do but dulux seems to be one of the worst.I used crown white gloss that had been in the garage for years in the end ,once stirred up it was fine still nice and white but this would be non compliant now

Mix some easi-fill up quite wet and feather around all the edges with a thin coat ,rub down when dry and then you can just decorate .As long as all the old paint was back to a firm edge it should look good even If you have to fill bits again after a coat of emulsion
