Thanks, will re-bed with tile cement. Should the sealer be applied:- 1. Prior to laying/bedding; 2. Post laying/bedding but pre jointing; 3. Post laying/bedding/jointing? I'm finding it almost impossible to source a supplier that can provide the materials we need to do the pointing...

What type of sealant is suitable for this type of product? Need the sealant to bring out the deep colours / wet look as the product we've had delivered is fairly washed out. http://lsd.co.uk/bradstone-smooth-natural-sandstone-modac-spinning-circle

Thanks. I'll have a go at sawing in situ and see how we get on. What do I need to watch out for that will tell me whether any of the sawing action is weakening the mortar bed? If I have any issues I can always revert and knock them off the mortar bed and then relay with tile adhesive. Any...

Garden Wall Project - help required

We're laying the circle as shown in the pic below. I'm therefore going to have to lift (hopefully only some of) the rectangular flags that I'd laid before the missus decided she wanted a circle. Two questions in this regard:- 1. For the 4 flags labelled 1, 2, 3 and 4, I'll lift these and...

Garden Wall Project - help required

r895neo: Thank you (as always); god knows where we'd be without your guidance (certainly not 3-4 weeks away from completion). If we were going to do any haunching, where would you recommend we do it? At A, B, C or D on the pic below? Just C and D? The whole paving area falls/slopes...

Anyone able to help with this. Remarkably, the "picture framing" seems to have disappeared following rain!!!

A couple of queries:- 1. How long does a "moist mix" of 8:1 mortar remain workable before it goes off? 2. Do we need any haunching around the perimeter (red line of image below) of where we intend paving? LINK TO ORIGINAL HQ IMAGE:- http://i60.tinypic.com/11hz4so.jpg

Thanks r896neo. Yeah for some reason the pics aren't coming out well in terms of contrast. These ones taken later this evening seem to demonstrate it a bit better (see below). It is quite bad so I think we're going to have to lift them. On reflection, the mortar mix I had used was quite...

Garden Wall Project - help required

Have laid some flags on a wet mix mortar and ended up with what I'm pretty sure looks like the "picture framing" phenomenon. Is there anything that can be done with this, other than lifting the flags back up and relaying fresh ones?

    Lifting flooring

Thank you to everyone for their help in this thread. That's our floors down, one job ticked off my list, and a very happy missus. Thank again for everyone's patience and bearing with me.

    Lifting flooring

Help!!! I purchased 10 chipboard 22mm P5 panels to lay the flooring in the room, but cut one of them incorrectly so was only able to lay 9 of them. They were all bought over a month ago and have been stored flat in the room since then. Having laid the 9 panels, I purchased 1 further...

    Lifting flooring

We recently had a leak from our shower which caused quite a bit of water to run across the floorboards. This has left a watermark on the floorboards under the shower tray and also on the floorboards in our hallway. Should the floorboards where the watermark is be lifted?

Laying the boards now. If the tongue and groove joint between two boards sits directly over the middle of a joist, is it permissible to screw down through this join? Or should it be slightly to the side of the join (in which case it would be at the edge of the joist)?
