    If there are puddles in the sub soil before you start, don't do it. The vibration of the whacker plate will bring more water to the surface and you will end up with a muddy mess. A waterlogged sub base will cause problems down the line. Better to hang on for a week rather than risk it IMO.

    It would depend on what soil type you have as to whether it would drain or not. You can dig a test pit and throw a bucket of water in to see how fast the water drains away. Alternatively, you could check where the downpipes from your guttering are draining to and possibly tap into one of those...

    The cupboards you use for outdoor kitchens are usually stainless steel and include the carcass. In effect a stainless steel box which would sit inside the gabion basket.

    Would recommend hiring a laser level for this job. I saw a similar project using gabions on the edge of the pond. It looked great until the pond was filled with water and the waterline highlighted that the levels were everso slightly off. Homeowner was gutted.
