Thanks for all the feedback following my original question. I have decided to have a replacement consumer unit put in with mcb's. I don't think there is any fault with the wiring in the house(built approx 10 years ago) as I had this checked out and there is a certificate of inspection stuck on...

Hi Colport - £1.50 each eh !! - yep, it's a lot cheaper than I pay (when I can get them) but not merely as cheap as re-wiring an old style fuse or flippin a switch or pressing a button on mcb's !! - would prefer to get a set of mcb to fit the Memera 3 :cry: :cry:

I'm back again !! - the consumer unit fitted currently that takes the cartridge fuses is a MEM Memera 3 model - what I ideally need to know is whether I can get mini circuit breakers to fit this CU rather than use the antiquated cartridge fuses it currently has. ps have taken a snap of the CU...

John D you owe me 50p - the cu I have currently is not Wylex - i'm not certain that Wylex made cu that accept cartridge fuses (or am I wrong )
