Really struggling to find cause of tripping

I'm pretty sure I tried a kettle / cooker combo and it tripped but will double check. Thanks

Really struggling to find cause of tripping

I really can't think of anything but will rack my brain. I'll try the heating overnight thing and I might disable all other circuits except one and try the kettle heater combo. Thanks

Really struggling to find cause of tripping

I can't think of anything else on a timer. The first thing to come on that uses electricity is normally the boiler but that didn't come on today until 6:30 so after the tripping happened. My immersion is broken and is switched off anyway. My kitchen gets quite cold overnight because it's next...

Really struggling to find cause of tripping

OK I think I'm getting closer... I tried these steps at 6:00 a.m. before the central heating came on. Firstly I tried the fan heater and the kettle together in the hall and it took about 1 minute to trip. Trying the heater and kettle separately worked OK but tripped immediately if I tried...

Really struggling to find cause of tripping

http://media.diynot.com/134000_133220_75356_64903551_thumb.jpg It's a Memera 2000 Before the heating comes on tomorrow, I'll try the kettle then fan heater on the other ring circuit first before doing the same in the kitchen. What I don't get is why if there is a fault does it seem to...

Really struggling to find cause of tripping

Looks like my theory of the wet socket in the lounge may not be correct. Today's episode: 6:00 Central Heating On 6;10 Fan Heater, Toaster , Cooker NOT IMMEDIATE TRIP /RESET 6:11 Fan Heater IMMEDIATE TRIP /RESET 6:12 Kettle IMMEDIATE TRIP / RESET 6:13 Kettle boils fully on different ring...

Really struggling to find cause of tripping

It's possible as on the ground floor where the water ran down the walls is directly above a socket. I strongly suspect it's to do with the radiator as it's the same problems I had when it leaked before which eventually cleared itself up after i sorted (or i thought I sorted) the water issues...

Really struggling to find cause of tripping

Ok thanks for that. All has been well since about 7 A.M. but we'll see what happens at 6:00 A.M. tomorrow when the central heating starts again.

Really struggling to find cause of tripping

Hi Many thanks for your quick reply. It's now about 4 hours since the last trip and all is working OK. So do you think it's again linked to my leaking rad maybe causing damp in the wiring and if so will it rectify itself as it dries out? If not how do you go about finding where the fault...

Really struggling to find cause of tripping

Hi Hope somebody can steer me in the right direction... The main switch on my board keeps tripping. Firstly this may be the cause or a complete red herring. A few months back I had the same tripping problem and at the time I had a leaky radiator upstairs that had soaked the carpet and...

Help please wiring the connector block in my PIR sensor.

Thanks for your quick response. As luck would have it a neighbour of mine who is developing his house has an electrician friend on site who came to have a look. It turns out that the earth and live cable running from the sensor to one of the lights were touching which was causing my problem...

Help please wiring the connector block in my PIR sensor.

I replaced a faulty PIR sensor and was sure I noted down all the correct connections but it keeps tripping whenever the sensor goes off so I guess I messed it up. I have four cables running in to the sensor each with L /N / E I don't know which cable comes from where. The connector...

    Flue causing oil boiler problems.

Thanks for that. How can I identify more frequent cycling rather that it just being my imagination / paranoia!?

    Flue causing oil boiler problems.

What is overfiring? Is that the same as short cycling? Maybe it's my imagination but would my described problem and temporary fix cause my boiler to fire up and switch off more than normal?

    Flue causing oil boiler problems.

Your Engineer is correct its called ingestion, leaving the case off just allows more oxygen to the Burner, wont hurt the boiler but wont be as efficient. Unfortunately my engineer is ill so hasn't returned yet but the boiler is running fine (with the case ON) but only because he tinkered...

    Flue causing oil boiler problems.

Many thanks to all who replied. If my heating engineer doesn't mention your suggestions I shall prompt! Hopefully a good inspection and decent reseal will do the trick. I shall report back. Thanks

    Flue causing oil boiler problems.

Boiler is probably 18 years old and I have had issues with the flue before about 5 years ago where it broke and had to be rewelded and sealed. Generally worked fine until last month when it started to cut out. Engineer showed me that when you put the case back on the boiler cuts which he said...

    Flue causing oil boiler problems.

My engineer is coming back to try and do that as he seemed unable to source a replacement part so hopefully that will suffice, I was just thinking more long term really. I'll report back after he comes on Wednesday. Thanks
