Servis Caress 1600 'A' - noisy spinning

I think on the servis you take the backplate off the outer drum and the bearings are mounted one each side of it. I don't have a machine to refer to but would think the back panel is held by a clamp band. If you don't want to renew the rubber gasket for this joint you can use some silicone...

    Creda T622CW not working

Tumble driers don't have motor brushes, they have a starter capacitor. If this capacitor fails the motor hums but does not turn. There is also a relay just under the lid on the right hand side of the machine. These relays are prone to failure.

    Indesit 820 not spinning

Probably a timer fault. The machine is quite elderly now so it may not be worth changing the timer.

    faulty switch????

Probably the wiring, especially if the place was wired some years ago. Earthing requirements for lighting have changed over the years so what might have been acceptable when it was wired/rewired is no longer good enough. You need to either make sure there is earth continuity from the switches to...

    hotpointnot taking in hot water

Are you sure it does not take the hot at any stage? It might be taking in cold initially before starting the hot valve. If you have a multimeter you can test the resistance of the hot water solenoid valve, which should be a few thousand ohms. If not, you can sometimes pull the coil part off and...

    Indesit WD12S washer dryer problem

Check the motor brushes. It may be detecting a fault and shutting down.

Zanussi WJS-1397 not stopping after cycle

You need a new or exchange reconditioned timer. If you want to fit this yourself I can give you some instructions.

    Indesit WD12 washer-dryer trips RCD!

Check for any leaks, I have known these machines drip water onto the motor plug. Also check for play in the drum bearings. Sometimes the bearings fail and the front edge of the inner drum cuts into the heater element.

    wot no cold feed?

I've never seen one capped off, people just leave the hot turned off. If you want to cap it off you should be able to get something with a 3/4" BSP female end to fit your valve from a plumbers merchant.

Hotpoint Fan Oven Nouvelle 6103 Fan stopped

Go to search, enter the name of author, eg whitegoodsman, look at the list of entries and find one with the authors name and click on that name. For some reason, if you click on their name in a post rather than an index it doesn't seem to work.

WD - dryer not working - fuse blows after 5-10 min

The fan and heater housings are accessed from the top but the condenser is at the back. They are usually semi transparent so you can see if they are choked.

    hella dodgy wiring!

I have seen 2 way lighting done with a run of 3 core & earth from each switch to the rose, which was used as a junction box.

    hella dodgy wiring!

If you don't have a multimeter it is worth getting one as they can be bought quite cheaply. An electricians test screwdriver is also handy. It complicates matters if there are two switches that operate the same light but if it has one way switching it's not too bad. Typically the 3 wires will be...

    Hoover new wave 1300

Start by checking for an obstruction in the pump or associated plumbing. It won't spin properly if it can't drain efficiently.

    carbon brush ,renewall

All WM models were fitted with white (laminated) brushes when new. Hotpoint only recommend you use the black ones on the earlier 9500 series machines etc but I use them on all the 800 and 1000 spin machines because I don't trust the laminated type.

    Zanussi FJ1033 bearing seals

The plastic tub Zanussis only have one bearing seal but some bearing kits include an additional, larger seal which is only required for older, metal tub machines. You fit the small bearing from the outside then the big bearing from the inside of the tub, followed by the seal, which has the...

    Cylinder Stat

Went back this morning and fitted another new stat, Danfoss this time. It now works fine, set it to 45 degrees and zone valve is closed, set it to 55 degrees and the zone valve is open 8)

    low voltage lighting: higher current?

Yes, low voltage circuits need thicker cables, heavier duty switches etc. but are safer when it comes to electric shocks due to the high resistance of human skin, meaning very little current can actually pass through you if you come into contact with a low voltage. 12 volt car wiring is just as...

    Cylinder Stat

I did not take any means of measuring the cylinder temperature but when I go back I will take a roasting thermometer and the conductive grease. The customer is going to get another new stat so we will have another go in the next few days.

    Indesit WG1130D

I've seen the fixing points in the base of the machine fail as you describe but not the problem with the upper fixing points so can't advise you on that. They are a flimsy machine though, the later models have similar construction with the added bonus of unreliable electronics
