    Thanks for that woody mate. My concern was whether you are able to make steps even if the actual trench bottom isn't stepped - aslong as you maintain the minimum concrete depth?

    Majority of those roots are from an old stump that was removed (chopped down about 10years ago). Luckily the 2 trees together have interlocked roots so they give each other enough support.

    The BCO has been out today and confirmed the sub soil is majority sandy gravel and believes the trees will not cause any issues thank god.

    Sorry - if you see the attached photo.... The rebar is in and levelled....the bars towards the back are coming close to ground level as the ground slopes down. That levels been brought across from the opposit corner where the level is set to 600mm concrete height

    Hi, I self dug my trench for my outbuilding..... the garden is on a slope and the trench has been dug in line with this. So the concrete level on the lowest part is come out quite a bit...like approx 1m (60cm at the highest point)....its actually coming just above ground level. What options...

    Hi Guys, So i have my trenches dug amd in certain areas due to limited space for the digger the trench is dug a bit wider (80-90cm) - i have some old fence panels lying around.... Will these work to shutter the trench?

    Thats what confused me - i can understand a 2 storey house but its a single story with flat roof.....but then i thought ground movement/heave is still an issues regardless of what we build?

    Thanks guys - it will be a trench fill foundation as oppose to strip. Thats going to be a lot of concrete - just had a long hard slog and removed the concrete posts and gravel boards in the proposed area. You can see the 2 sycamire trees on the right in the photo.
