    What is this pipe for?

Haha I'm thinking that now too. Now just to find a decent one in the Preston, Lytham or Blackpool area

    What is this pipe for?

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I've had two plumbers out and both of them said they had no idea what it might be. Does it look to be in the right place and what is its purpose? When the gate valve on the green pipe between the pump and MagnaClean is closed the pump seems to work harder than...

    What is this pipe for?

I have a pipe (the one in green) that I can't seem to figure out what it's purpose is. One part of it comes from the bottom of the hot water cylinder and the other is located after the pump but before the MagnaClean. It doesn't seem to serve either the hot water or the radiators. Can anyone...

Need help choosing compound mitre saw

I am the customer and I'm looking to do all the work myself if I can. I was also looking at this which has a bigger cross cut but that's adding to the budget somewhat http://bit.ly/Ta50gZ but then this wouldn't even do 4x4 which was what I was thinking I would be needing

Need help choosing compound mitre saw

[/url] Including the bench that's a good price. How would that fair with fence posts and skirting boards? I noticed the crosscut would only go up to 62mm/2.5". What size posts would you usually use for fences?

Need help choosing compound mitre saw

Thanks for the reply's folks. I've seen this one on eBay http://bit.ly/1a2kGLf which seems like a good buy. I think I'll pay a bit more and get a proper branded one now

Need help choosing compound mitre saw

Hi folks. I'm looking to buy a compound mitre saw. Initially I will be using it for cutting skirting but I also need to make a garden gate, repair the door frame on the garage and a fence once the conifers have been removed. I have seen these two on screwfix but would like to know if the...

Homemade hot wire cutter for foam/styrofoam

I was going to combat this by attaching the wire to a spring and letting the spring expand. Then when the wire expands the spring will shrink and keep the tension on the wire. I've looked at those variac transforms and they look like a good piece of kit. Is there a cheaper alternative though...

Homemade hot wire cutter for foam/styrofoam

Continuing my research I found that 26 gauge nichrome wire is a good choice at 0.4mm thick. I could use a 12v 3amp power supply sourced from eBay. Would it be possible to alter the amps via some sort of resistor?

Homemade hot wire cutter for foam/styrofoam

I'm wanting to make a hot wire cutter to use with foam/styrofoam for model making etc. Does anyone here have knowledge of making one of these. I was thinking after doing some research of using a mobile phone charger (or similar) that provided a 12v 2-3amp DC output and connecting the 'hot...

One cold radiator but both pipes are also cold

The good news is its not a blocked pipe :-) Glad I did what you said and took the radiator off first. When I opened the feed valve, hot water came shooting out :D This is the colour of the water that came out. Guessing I need some inhibitor in the system When I add the Inhibitor. What...

One cold radiator but both pipes are also cold

Hi John. Yes I can do that no problem. I've had a look at the radiator manifold (If thats even whats its called) and the four pipes coming off the main flow pipe that go in the direction of my cold radiator are hot. As one of these must go to the cold radiator and the flow pipe that connects...

One cold radiator but both pipes are also cold

So I've turned all the radiators off at the flow valves (left the lock shields open) and set the system running. The offending radiator including flow pipe is still cold but the return pipe seems to have warned up slightly. Does this sound right? What would be the next step from here...

One cold radiator but both pipes are also cold

Can this be done while the radiators are still hot or shall I let them cool first? Also I have a radiator that looks like it has a lockshield valve at both ends (both ends are without caps). Will this have any issues with the working of the rad/system? How do I know which one to turn off? Is...

One cold radiator but both pipes are also cold

Hi. All the radiators in my house are hot except for one of them which is cold and both connected pipes are also cold. From the information I have gathered from the forum and other sources it seems there may be a blockage stopping the water getting to this one rad. Does this sound right...
