    Blockwork Shed

Thanks for your advice. Wood was something i considered but kind of wrote off but I will reconsider now. it just seems that it will be expensive to make a good, sturdy shed and it will need continual treating. I really need to reach a conclusion as I have been considering the best...

    Blockwork Shed

I thought that using blocks would remove the need for any insulation? My costings show that the job will cost circa £1k. My reservations for using wood are that it will inevitably rot and not offer the same strength/warmth as a block shed. I would like the shed to be moderately cold resistant...

How did you finish the blocks externally. If not, have you had issues with waterproofing? Thanks

    Blockwork Shed

Hi All, I am planning on building a shed using blocks - rough dimensions of 3m * 2.5m I plan to make solid foundations at about 300mm deep and build up on these. I have been trying to ascertain what is the best block to use. I have become confused with the difference between a concrete...

Gas leak in newly purchased house!!!!

Ok. These negative replies really are not helpful. I am really not looking for arguments but just some HELP. The gas engineer has just blocked the supply to my boiler. Sorry if I got the terms wrong. I am an accountant and would not expect the majority of people on here to be coversant...

Gas leak in newly purchased house!!!!

Do me a favour and get stuffed. I have posted on here for a discussion and some people have provided useful comments. What use is your comment? I was at work when the qualified gas engineer attended. He has been in his trade for over 30 years and who the hell are you to question his or my...

Gas leak in newly purchased house!!!!

The gas engineer has advised to leave the gas "off" as a significant amount was leaking out. i did try to have these tests undertaken but the vendor would not play ball as he wanted a sharp sale and there was LOTS of interest on the property. Basically, if it wasnt me paying £X it was the...

Gas leak in newly purchased house!!!!

Purchased my house 3 weeks ago and called a gas qualified engineer to remove a low level gas pipe in my garage. He did this no prob but found that the boiler has a broken valve which means gas has literally been "pi@@ing" out of the flue. Does anyone know what my rights are regarding going...

2 Way Switch and redundant live

Apologies all. I wasnt clear at all and was only thinking of 2 waying the rear light when in fact it is much better to have both as 2 ways. This is why I had a 'spare' live. All your comments helped to make my brain click and yes all very simple now! Thanks again

2 Way Switch and redundant live

I think I have it....... At first I was only going to have a two way on the light at the back of the garage but now I will make both lights 2 way. Threw me off as you use the live for the back light to effectively power the front and vice versa. Thanks for all your help guys!!!

2 Way Switch and redundant live

Thanks for all the responses - all helpful. However, each light currently has a pull switch supplied with its own live wire. By linking the back switch to the front switch I will be carrying power from the front switch to the back one. Therefore, I think the bank live will no longer be...

2 Way Switch and redundant live

My current property has an integral garage, which has plaster boarded ceilings. Currently, you can only turn a light on/off if your are standing at the end of the garage containing the desired light. Therefore, I would like to incorporate a 2 way switch option. Therefore my plan is to...
