    Cables to connect halogen downlighters.

I think you may be getting confused between the LV (230 volts) and ELV (12 volts) sides of the circuit. The LV side requires a cpc (earth) but the ELV side after the PSU (transformer) does not.

    Cables to connect halogen downlighters.

I take it you are talking about lighting pendants here. A cpc is not required as it has a non-metallic lampholder and a lamp (bulb) does not require an earth.

Quick check on part P compliance

I have been watching this discussion with interest and would like to add a bit. If notifiable work in a room containing a bath or shower covers the zones as defined in the 16th edition, that would mean extending 3 metres from the edge of the bath or shower. Would this not cover most domestic...

    Downlighters not downlighting...

I have loads of these lampholders and could send you a couple foc, but I'm not sure if this is allowed, me being relatively new to this forum. Maybe one of the regulars could let me know if this is ok.

I assumed an external wall would be over 100mm thick.

    Outside light cable zone query

Would it look ok to have a blank plate in the place where the cable is going through the wall? If this is ok you could fit a flush single box and a blank plate and this would give you your safe zone for your cable drop.

    couple of pics

I have come across these converted boards before. They are converted from old flush fuse boards. I replaced 10 of them in a nursing home last year, all fed with pyro submains from a section board. What a mess I made getting the flush boxes out of the walls. Ah happy days :)

    Garage electrics

From your picture it looks like the 4mm ( 6mm?) has been split and broken into with the blocks. Where does the cable go to?

    Street lighting shocker.

I don't know how these people get away with it. I need paperwork signed in triplicate from client and test certs for everything I work on as a minimum requirement.

    Street lighting shocker.

Shoddy and dangerous work all round. I have photographed, made the live cable safe and have recommended the whole lot is redone ( including a new post) Can't find out who did this but it looks like someone has done the job with no test equipment, realised the last 3 lights still don't work and...

    Street lighting shocker.

The badly terminated cable and compound joint had been a "repair" done by an "electrician" because of a neutral break on the cable between posts 6 and 7. When the cables had been disconnected from the service head in post 7 to connect the added cable, the damaged cable was reconnected along with...
