    Soakaway Geo textile recommendations plese

Dear All, In due course I will be arranging for a soakaway to be installed below grass in my garden. I will need to fit a Geo textile membrane. I only need around 10m2 but would appreciate recommendations on a reputable brand of membrane please. Many thanks Paul

    Recommended plastic soakaway manufacturers

Hi All, I am considering removing an old soakway and replacing it with a 'plastic frame' version. I would be very appreciative of a recommended brand of plastic frame soakaways. Many thanks Paul

Property build in 1969 - Soakaway installation

Hi all, Well today I went out into the garden with a spade and after some exploratory probing I dug down where I believed that the horizontal soakaway pipe ended. About 24 inches down I found the horizontal pipe and some bricks / hardcore. After some digging around I have found the end of the...

Property build in 1969 - Soakaway installation

Thanks for the suggestion Ian. That was sort of my idea. What I would say is that I cannot rod down the vertical downpipe or the 'gutter end' of the horizontal pipe. I may have to dig a hole where the horizontal pipe ends (at the soakaway end) and see what blockages are in the pipe (back to...

Property build in 1969 - Soakaway installation

I had considered that but I have two issues, One, due to the arrangement of the pipework it may be difficult for a survey due to some difficult to navigate pipework. Secondly, the earth at the moment in my area is easy to dig so it gives me something to do!

Property build in 1969 - Soakaway installation

Thanks Hugh and to everyone for their help. I am considering trying to identify the end of the pipework at the soakaway end and the digging down to see if the pipework is effective in passing the water from the downpipe to the soakaway. This will then form part of my decision on what to then do

Property build in 1969 - Soakaway installation

People, If I try to 'trace' the horizontal pipe (using a rod pressed slowly into the ground) surely as I move away from the downpipe and along the horizontal pipe then eventually I will come to the end of the pipe and the soakaway location. I would appreciate thoughts on what would be at the...

Help needed with UFH floor probe position

OK, the probe slides into the conduit and the end of the probe should be at the end of the groove by the no adhesive text. The end of the probe doesnt have to make contact with the UFH as the heat radiates down to the probe. I believe the conduit is in place to ensure that if the probe fails...

Help needed with UFH floor probe position

The conduit should sit in the groove and the top of the conduit should not be higher than the groove i.e the groove should be deep enough to hold the conduit. The probe then goes into the conduit to around the end of the conduit. I would run the conduit from the wall area along the whole...

Property build in 1969 - Soakaway installation

People, Today I started prodding my garden with a steel pole to try to identifiy any underground pipework. I identified what I believed to be pipework (which ran from the gutter downpipe to the position of the soakaway shown on my house plans) got a spade out and dug down into the grass. At...

Just out interest people, does the soil composition in the attached photo look like the type of soil that would promote draining through it or prevent draining through it?

Property build in 1969 - Soakaway installation

Woody, Many thanks. I believe I have not accurately described what I am trying to ask. I cannot get out a shovel as the area is covered in tarmac but if I understand you correctly it is unlikely to be trapped. The houses were a bit thrown up so it is most likely that Pat and Mick done the...

I am trying to ascertain if there is an elbow or trap at the bottom of the vertical downpipe.

Property build in 1969 - Soakaway installation

Ok, the downpipe passes vertically from the gutter and then enters the soil at ground level (obvious really I suppose!) where it continues to travel vertically into the ground for 450mm ie. the downpipe is one long pipe from the fascia to 450mm below ground. I am trying to find out whether...
