    the tenants say that the downstairs has never been warm, before I put in the sm-4 I did manage to get the 2 large downstairs rads hot but they soon faded. The landlord of course says that when he lived there it worked....but the again he would!!

    Noisy loft cistern re-filling

    definitely not a good idea because of back siphonage, which could cause you to contaminate your cold water supply. A torbeck is the solution in toilet cisterns, but i have never seen them in lofts. I have seen ball valves where the water outlet to the cistern sprinkles the water and not pours.
