I would suggest a light sanding to provide a key for your new gloss .

Update,gas chap has been identified the problem,overheat stat that many of you suggested,so thanks all for that.He has also talked me out of getting a new combi system,just by saying what the f*** for this system is far superior,ha,ha.Stat wasnt cheap at £66 but he serviced boiler and replaced...

The stat is at the lowest possible setting,before cutting off!Has always been this way (17 years)mentioned it loads of times to various engineers on servicing,nobodys bothered much.Just to add the water is/always has been very,very hot,you could not leave your hand under it,but we have got used...
