ok thanks for help all. i will go to plumbers merchants on tuesday to get a new donought once and for all!!! on another note, are push-button valve's (dual flush) standard sizes/heights and can they easily be changed/replaced if falty like a tradkitional syphon can - as i'm thinking of having...
so if a plumber comes to a house to change a syphon and removes the cistern, how do they know what type of donought washer to bring with them 9as there are many different sizes)!!! surely they don't go down to the plumbers merchant and leave someone's toilet apart?!!!!
thanks for your advice. much appreciated! i heard somewhere a while back that plumbers putty can also help a donought washer to make a better seal?!! is this worth a go?
everytime a cistern is removed from the pan, a new donought should be replaced then ... good advice there, thanks...
can i just ask if anyone knows what i should do in this situation: last week i changed the syphon on my cistern, but when i attached the cistern back onto the pan (close coupled) a little bit of water comes through (the wing nut holes) when i flush the cistern. it's not much, but adds up over...
i somehow thought a pilot hole was made a a large masonry type jig saw was used to make the square/circle hole in the wall!!! thanks for teducating me!!!
ok thanks. is it hard to do? i know when drilling through a normal wall i make a sligh indent with a bradle first so the drill doesn't wobble when first started! any other tips for it? and after inserting the pipe through what sealant/filler is best advised to seal the gap between the pipe...
right-tricky (maybe) but need some help here!! i have a boss shoulder - (110mm) for a soil stack, it has 3 spaces. I know i need to drill a hole in the spaces required, using a hole saw - but, do I just insert a rubber push fit boss adaptor and then put my waste pipe (40mm) into that - or does...
oh, so even if say in 3 years time my cistern won't flush, and i called out a plumber, he wouldn't be able to fix it straight away??!!!! might as well stick to the old school siphon type then i guess !!!
what do you mean? if i get a push-button toilet, (which are supposedly popular nowadays)!! if it goes wrong or wears i cannnot replace the siphon/float valve easily???!!!
ok will do. what i was getting at is say i need a new siphon in a few years time, are they standard sizes for push button cisterns like they are for side-flushing handle types?? would most plumbing merchants have replacements available if needed?
Thinking about buying a new wc for my downstairs bathroom. Is a PUSH-BUTTON type worth getting? If anything goes wrong with the siphon/valve, are they easier to repair, standard sizes, etc or are the parts hard to-get, etc.
i know you do not need to have nvq before doing c&g level 3. BUT to do nvq without having c&g is near enough impossible!! C&G 3 willteach you what you need to know to get nvq 3 and it is very technical i have heard. a lot harder than level 2, covering unvented systems, gas boilers and...
they're about 1.50-2 pounds each!! they are the 1.5 inch size and fit around the siphon nut, but when trying to put the cistern back onto the pan, it doesn't go! so obviously i have the wrong size! would a proper plumbers merchants have a variety of sizes?
